Mary deteriorated over the last 2 weeks and, after persistent nagging, she was fitted with a syringe driver yesterday and is peaceful.
She developed a chest infection and coughing was causing her pain and anxiety. As if this wasn't enough a bout of oral thrush caught us unawares and she had pus coming out of her mouth. At this time I called in the Hospicecare Home Service and they and Marie Curie have supported us at this difficult time.
We knew our time together was limited, initially we thought it would be 2 to 6 months. Mary has been magnificent in her fight and it is now 2 years since PSP was diagnosed.
I am now in the waiting game but I am so proud of her that she never once complained. It has been my priviledge to care for her and be with her . Now I have to let her go. I can do no more. Thank you all for your support. With love from Rob

You have done all you can now. It is time to just be with her and let her know you are there. I am glad she is resting peacefully and hospice will be of great help at this time.
Thinking of you at this difficult time. Stay strong for both of you and take good of yourself too as this next stage is very exhausting in a different way.
Your post brought the day Ben died right back, he had a syringe driver fitted the day before he died and like you I felt it was a privelidge to have nursed him to the end. My thoughts are with you.
Hi Rob, sorry to hear about Mary, will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Time to let the professionals take care of her and you can return to being her loving husband.
