Welcome to forum. Although my husband does not fall out of bed at night, he does have a bed rail (inserted between the mattress and box spring) which helps in so many ways e,g, getting into and out of his wheel chair. And it would prevent falling out of bed. The weighted blanket does seem like a good idea based on what I read.
Good luck!
Yes, we used a weighted blanket for hubby’s night terrors and jerking spells. It seemed to calm him and he likes it. It weighs 15 pounds and he couldn’t lift it at all, but once I put it in place for him, he slept better. When he started Clonazepam he gradually stopped using the blanket. I personally use a weighted blanket for myself and I think it helps me with body aches. I sleep better with it than without it and being a caregiver I need all of the help that I can get. I purchased the blankets from the original inventor:
There’s a nice story on the website of how and why it was invented.

Can someone with CBD use a weighted blanket without someone putting it over them? My mum stopped using a duvet as she was getting tangled and now uses a lambswool underblanket as an over blanket on her torso which keeps her warm too as her temperature regulation is not good. But CBD means she has use of only one hand and she can pull this over herself.
The blankets might be too heavy for your mum to manage
I agree with Sunset. Your mom would need someone to help her with it. Even when the patient rolls over, if they can still do that, the blanket will slip off and then it will need to be put back in place. Is anyone with her during the day? I was thinking maybe she could use one during the afternoon maybe while watching TV?
The blanket weight is based on body size. They come in a variety of different weights. Maybe you could try a lighter one? I imagine Customer Support at Magic Blanket website could help you find out what would work best for your situation. Just a thought.
As a caregiver, when I wear mine I feel like I’m being hugged all around. When I blow out dandelions trying to fall asleep, I pretend that hubby and I are cuddling. I don’t think that I could sleep without it now.
That's sweet, SewBears. I liked the time to myself for a while but now am missing the cuddling. Our life together has just been work, work, work for a long time with this disease but I'm starting to daydream about our life before this disease. The dates we went on, dancing together, our marriage before this. I've had my head down with so much caregiving that I hadn't even recalled these memories until recently.
I miss him. He's still here and he's missing the togetherness even more than I am. I need to focus on this more while there's still time.
My husband falls out of bed also.
We are awaiting a bed frame which we are on a waiting list for which will stop him falling out of bed. Have you had Trafford outfit assess him for adaptations in the house?
Thought I'd chime in. I have been using a weighted blanket for about a year. I am in fine health, my mother has CBD. I love my weighted blanket. I'd suggest it to anyone who has sleep issues of any kind.
