Perfect Summer Day

I never want to fail to treasure every moment with my sweet Momma. Pictures allow me to capture the moments, and to reflect on in the years ahead.

Things have been quite challenging lately, we are slowly moving to 100% wheelchair, and each day seems to bring on “new normals”. I pray for plateaus, and want to hang on to where we are now ...

This beautiful afternoon, Momma is wearing her brand new sunglasses, enjoying a glass of zero sugar lemonade (she doesn’t even know), and wonderful conversations of days gone by. I ask her random questions (I.e., childhood memories, her parents, my Dad, schooling, and most embarrassing moments - that was funny)

I’m tired, not sleeping much - I think she has to go potty more at night versus day time... but, I have to find the joy in every moment!

That little orange button around her neck has helped immensely throughout the day ... it is connected via Bluetooth and she can push the little bell when she needs something if I am not close by. I have bought four of them, and have placed them in various spots - waterproof too!

Hooray for little gadgets with orange buttons! They make life a little easier.

My hubby needed to go toilet .more often at night too. Was one of his early symptoms that were not followed through as seemingly unimportant!

Keep enjoying your mum's company.

I hope you can get some help sleeping. Catheter could be 1 way of helping, but it comes with its own baggage and bugs, so probably not a good solution!

Big hug!

I love your posts and photos of memory making with your Momma. I try to think of things I can do with my CBD hubby, but he seems pretty indifferent to anything I try to get him involved in. Frustrating and sad for me, but it is what it is.

Its nice to see your Mom’s smiling face. You’re doing something right!

The orange button Is a mums way of payback for childhood, can you move as fast as she did? Fun intended But you should ask mum and check for the innocent smile.

You are a very dedicated carer, Kim. I hope you are figuring out how you will get your own breaks and self-care. No matter how much we love our loved ones, the constant vigilance, sleeplessness and worry can become destructive to us.

Just sayin' bcuz so many of us have been there.... ❤️❤️

That's an absolutely beautiful photo of your mum. My hubby also visits the bathroom more during the night than daytime. Frustrating, but especially when he doesn't do anything and has woken me from much needed sleep 👿

Likewise, and on a bad night from 1am it's every hour. Thankfully it's been 3wks since I had 3 of these in a row and I was like a bear the next day.

Is your mom taking any medication for the waterworks??? If not worth exploring.....

Urinary frequency and incontinence were a challenge for my husband. Medication and Accupuncture helped.

You need your sleep or your health and ability to care will diminish

Sending love and hugs to you and your mom
