Sorry going to have to bale out today. Couple of inches of snow, can’t find out if train is running and with the forecast in London, not worth the hassle of the journey. Coming up from Bristol.
Feeling totally sick and fed up, but see you all next time. Those that do make it, have a lovely time.
Lots of love
Anne

The same here Heady. Not so much snow as you but as my hilly north facing side road never sees a grit lorry, what came down last night has fallen on sheet ice, compacted snow from earlier in the week. I’m staying put. Some good news though, my 5th grandson was born yesterday, mum and baby doing well and safe and warm in hospital. Just hope they get home safely today.....or stay put until it thaws a bit.
Thanks. I can’t wait to see him but will have to. Will be bitter sweet though as I’m sad Colin never got to meet him. He cried every time he held a new baby. I will as well when I first hold this one.
Congratulations Bev. I know how you feel. Every time I hold James, I think how much Steve would have loved this child. Just means you will have to love and spoil him twice as much. That's my excuse!!!
Hi Anne, I'm having to say no as it snowed again overnight, not the amount you have had though. My son Skyped this morning from Bristol and the kids were so excited by the snow, schools cancelled and they are planning a sledging/snowman building day. I'm gutted that we can't get to London as was so looking forward to seeing everyone bit will definitely make the next one.
All the kids around here have been shrieking with laughter, taking their toboggans off to the local hill, whilst I laid in bed, feeling very sorry for myself! Now that bloody stuff is falling again. It's going to be a long weekend.
I actually decided very last minute to go to London and then onto Bedford to see my sister. It was lovely to see folk and had a good giggle. I hope your weekend isn’t too painful, I hate weekends. Xxx
That's how I was feeling Anne, it was a very last minute decision, packed my rucksack, walked up the hill to the main road (which was clear) and bused into Tunbridge Wells as our local station has a rubbish service coming back due to engineering works. Made it to the pub a bit late, had a few glasses of wine and then continued to Bedford to stay overnight with my sister. So glad I made the effort but would never had tried from where you are, really heavy fall and you would never have made it to the station. Hope you've cheered up a little bit, it's hard I know especially when your plans get scuppered.
Yes, I seriously thought about driving up, as things had cleared a bit, by mid morning, but I would still have had to dig my brand new car (!!!!) out of the snow and certainly didn't fancy the drive home. Glad you managed to get there and then to your sister's. Very brave of you. Well Done!
Colloquial term used in England as in,"This weather would freeze the balls off a brass monkey"
Though it is prob. not the Brass Monkey's balls the speaker would be worried about!
"It is often stated that the phrase originated from the use of a brass tray, called a "monkey", to hold cannonballs on warships in the 16th to 18th centuries. Supposedly, in very cold temperatures the "monkey" would contract, causing the balls to fall off.
Hi Anne, I am in Clevedon, North Somerset. There are a few people around here that have PSP and in Gloucestershire. Our snow is just about gone. Managed to get the car out this afternoon.
What a coincidence, we get our cars from Clevedon Mazda and my Mother lived at St Monica's Sandford until she died last February. We have friends and ex colleagues from Airbus who live down there.
I come down every year to service the car, perhaps we could meet for coffee when I come later this month?
