Has anyone ever heard CBD and PSP described as the same disease but on different ends of the spectrum?

Thank you for asking this question. The only differences that I’ve been able to find is that with PSP there are eye movement issues and with CBD not so much. They’re both horrible 😢 I know that people get misdiagnosed and the only way to truly know which one it is, is with an autopsy. It’s my understanding that a correct diagnosis determines the medication plan?

We see the doc again in 2 months and I’ll ask him what the distinctions are. Anyway, please let me know what else you find out. Thank you!

A caregiver at a support group said that his wife's neurologists told him this was the case. I had never heard it before.

No, but they seem to be similar in the way the tau protein attaches to the brain which, as I understand it, has some similarity to Alzheimer's too. I think that is the main reason they get grouped together. I'm certainly no expert though.

Thank you. Nor am I. Someone shared that "fact" at a meeting of PSP patients. I hadn't heard it before.

When we were at Mayo Clinic a Doctor who specialized in Parkinson plus diseases mentioned that new research being done on Alzheimer’s may someday help people with PSP. He explained that some of his colleagues at Mayo have been worki g for several years to reduce the main protein building up in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. He said they had been successful in reducing this in the brains of patients in the study, yet with no relief from the terrible symptoms of Alzheimer’s. He explained that Tau is also present. Now they are wondering with the small amounts of Tau protein are a large part of the problem. They are continuing research. .

So many similarities among the tau protein neurodegenerative disorders.
