My FIL (diagnosed with CBD) yesterday decided he wanted to hang a rather heavy picture in his bungalow. So I duly arrived with drill a little apprehensive. But I thought hold on I have to let him do this. He has tremors in both his legs and hands. That said he hasn't stopped getting about. So I stood back and let him set about getting the job done. He asked me to hold the hoover under the holes he was to drill and off we went. Well hitting the marked spot for drilling was initally dificult but he got there and we got the job done. We giggled as we tried to screw in the hooks as neither of us were particually able once they tightened. But again we got there. The sense of achievement on his face was a picture to behold. We celebrated with a shakey cuppa. Before I left he did say his arms and hands felt particularly uncomfortable but it was worth it. I'm so glad I didn't just take the job from him and assume he couldn't do it. Had he not been able we would have chalked it up but he did and I think we both felt happy. Just wanted to share a positive as I know the road ahead will possibly not be so positive but I holding on to each good thing we can. Xx

Thank you
That started my day with a positive smile.
So totally worth it!
Brilliant! The power of positive thinking, your FIL is obviously determined to fight the disease. Keep that picture you both installed in view and in mind as the disease progresses.
Well done. You are so right and its often hard , but essential, to let the risk be taken !!
He will feel so good.
xx
Yes. He will give you a run for your money !!!
My husband fought against it until he had no quality of life - then he died. I felt he took control, as he needed to.

Well done, Pooches Your instinct rehow to deal with FIL is bang on: respectful and responsive at the same time. You have great compassion and wisdom.
I hope his time with CBD has many such moments for him, and the inevitable is far off XXX
