He’s gone now and resting

Hi all

Last night Archie finally gave in to this illness and so what a journey this has been I’ve had brilliant help with the carers and who has been helping throughout this last week I can safety say that I feel so relieved and exhausted but I will now get some rest

I thank you all for the advice and the support that you have given me over the time

Love hugs and kisses

To all

Oh Sue I am so sad for you. You have been a great carer and fighter for Archie all along the way. You must be so worn out? Archie is safe now and at peace. God bless him. It's time to take care of yourself sweetheart but you have so many friends on the site remember? There is still a battle ahead for you alone.

Please stay in touch with us all as you are such a valuable member of the site with lots of knowledge and we care about you.

Big hugs and lots of love to you.

Dear Sue, so sorry to hear that Archie has passed away. May he rest in peace, finally free from this evil disease.

I know what you mean about being relieved, it's so, so very hard watching your partner suffer so much and nobody being able to do anything.

Please make sure you get that rest you talk about. Recovering from what you have been through will take a while, plus grief is very exhausting. There is only one way to do this grief, that's your way. Nothing has to be done today, that can't easily be done tomorrow.

We are still all here for you in the dark days and months ahead

Sending big hug and much love

Lots of love

I know exactly (as do most of us here) where you are coming from, it is such a strain, watching and waiting for the inevitable. It certainly does not sound awful at all, a relief for you and for for Archie too. As much as we do not want to lose a loved one, when you watch and wait it is so so hard Hugs and love

Dear Sue, I sit alone here reading that you have lost Archie and know the pain yet relief that you are feeling. Ben passed away two weeks ago and his Farewell Tribute isn't until until a week on Tuesday. You have to do the necessary arrangements, reporting his death to the various agencies etc when it's the last thing on earth that you want to be doing. I had my sisters with me for two weeks after he died and they took over all the domestic roles but now it's just me with my children and grandchildren two hundred miles away. I hope that you have family and friends nearby to help you through this, for me I think it will take time to get myself out there away from the bubble we lived in for the past three years, it somehow feels cosy and secure there. I do hope that you get some solace from the fact that you cared and nurtured for Archie making him feel loved.

Sending my love a warmest wishes Sue

When things slowly get back to some normality and nobody here I can get up and go out that door and go visiting without knowing they’d no worries at home but 1st I’m going to get some much deserved sleep

You have been grieving for three years as you anticipated this time. Now it is time to adjust to life as a non-caregiver. May your transition be filled with memories of healthy days goneby, friends’ and family’s support and encouragement, and lots of rest!

Dear Sue,

On this dreary day I read this and cried, but.............your post was so lovely, like you and it made me calm.

This journey is heartbreaking but the suffering is such that you want it over for them. Archie is free now.

Please know I've been praying and thinking of you all day and will continue to. Bless you!!

Dear Sue.

So sad for you but your attitude to this will probably help you. I could never accept that Valerie would go and when she did it hit me really hard.

It's been 9 weeks now and I'm still crying - not all the time but every now and again when something triggers it - like your news about Archie.

Coming from me this is a bit ironic but we must accept our loss and lead a new , different life. It's what our loved ones would have wanted.

This weekend will be a really emotional one as we are scattering Valerie's ashes where she asked - from a speedboat off the coast of Cornwall at Padstow !!!!

Love and hugs Bryan

Hi Sue

Yes, it can get odd, going out after staying in for so long.

I hope the organising goes smoothly.

Liz is OK... she can still swallow. That is the cliff edge for us now. Misery.

Your loss and some others recently prompted me to write that post.

Thinking of you and Archie.

My thoughts are with you, another journey for you all in some ways as hard. Give him a good send off, i found the funeral healing, seeing so many people who had loved rog.

Be kind to yourself, I had no idea grief was such a physical pain, buf now you need to rest.

Bit late on this, Sue as I have been away.

Sorry for your loss and I understand the mix of despair and relief. Its been a long road and you are exhausted.

I know its really strange to have " freedom " back and suddenly not want it or know what to do with it !!!

I know I felt so tired for ages. Still in a bit of a bubble.

Thinking of you. Lots of love from Jean xx
