Hi all
Last night Archie finally gave in to this illness and so what a journey this has been I’ve had brilliant help with the carers and who has been helping throughout this last week I can safety say that I feel so relieved and exhausted but I will now get some rest
I thank you all for the advice and the support that you have given me over the time

Oh Sue I am so sad for you. You have been a great carer and fighter for Archie all along the way. You must be so worn out? Archie is safe now and at peace. God bless him. It's time to take care of yourself sweetheart but you have so many friends on the site remember? There is still a battle ahead for you alone.

Dear Sue, so sorry to hear that Archie has passed away. May he rest in peace, finally free from this evil disease.
I know what you mean about being relieved, it's so, so very hard watching your partner suffer so much and nobody being able to do anything.
Please make sure you get that rest you talk about. Recovering from what you have been through will take a while, plus grief is very exhausting. There is only one way to do this grief, that's your way. Nothing has to be done today, that can't easily be done tomorrow.
We are still all here for you in the dark days and months ahead

I am pleased too that he has passed .Sounds awful but he didn’t deserve this crap like many others who has it .I have had some great advice on here and I thank you all for it .I am going to to take my chimney off my head as the steam has all been let out

I know exactly (as do most of us here) where you are coming from, it is such a strain, watching and waiting for the inevitable. It certainly does not sound awful at all, a relief for you and for for Archie too. As much as we do not want to lose a loved one, when you watch and wait it is so so hard Hugs and love

I am so sorry to read of your loss Sue. This dreadful illness takes everything bit by bit from our loved ones and having to watch this deterioration just rips at your heart. It is now time to take care of yourself and face adjustment along another road which has challenges but take it all a step at a time. A big hug for you. Jxx

Dear Sue, I sit alone here reading that you have lost Archie and know the pain yet relief that you are feeling. Ben passed away two weeks ago and his Farewell Tribute isn't until until a week on Tuesday. You have to do the necessary arrangements, reporting his death to the various agencies etc when it's the last thing on earth that you want to be doing. I had my sisters with me for two weeks after he died and they took over all the domestic roles but now it's just me with my children and grandchildren two hundred miles away. I hope that you have family and friends nearby to help you through this, for me I think it will take time to get myself out there away from the bubble we lived in for the past three years, it somehow feels cosy and secure there. I do hope that you get some solace from the fact that you cared and nurtured for Archie making him feel loved.

When things slowly get back to some normality and nobody here I can get up and go out that door and go visiting without knowing they’d no worries at home but 1st I’m going to get some much deserved sleep

This journey is heartbreaking but the suffering is such that you want it over for them. Archie is free now.

So sad for you but your attitude to this will probably help you. I could never accept that Valerie would go and when she did it hit me really hard.
It's been 9 weeks now and I'm still crying - not all the time but every now and again when something triggers it - like your news about Archie.
Coming from me this is a bit ironic but we must accept our loss and lead a new , different life. It's what our loved ones would have wanted.
This weekend will be a really emotional one as we are scattering Valerie's ashes where she asked - from a speedboat off the coast of Cornwall at Padstow !!!!

Thank you Kevin I’ve had 2 days to recharge with it being bank holiday and now start to organise things it will be a bit strange going out cause I’ve not been out in 6 weeks but have my grandson with me at the minute

My thoughts are with you, another journey for you all in some ways as hard. Give him a good send off, i found the funeral healing, seeing so many people who had loved rog.
Be kind to yourself, I had no idea grief was such a physical pain, buf now you need to rest.
