I was tempted, but changed my mind. The birds made snow angels instead.

Cold but beautiful
How lovely, better the birds than you ha ha, hope the weather changes and we can all meet up, fingers crossed. Xxxxxx
I hope so too. We are supposed to be getting a couple of days of rain before Tuesday and London is going to be dry with some sun on Tuesday. Hopefully the forecast is correct and the rain will get rid of the snow. I still can’t get my car out of the estate yet. There have been no sign of any gritters lorries. Oh! The TV news has just stated the big thaw starts at the weekend. I hope that doesn’t mean the big flood😱.
Hope to see you soon.

Wow!! That’s amazing but this weather is so annoying! Keep warm Bev x
Well Bev I'm very disappointed that you left it to the birds, a very cowardly act in my eyes! Be glad to see the back of this now, enough is enough.

I quite agree.....enough is enough, not the cowardly act bit 😆. I had to see a neighbour today and went down my drive holding on to the handrail with two hands. Just had a message from Mark in Switzerland saying they’ve had Arctic conditions as well. I hope his plane lands at Gatwick OK. Then he is driving back to Suffolk. Not good.
Have you had both carers back now? I do hope so.
See you when we get the all clear.

Can imagine your drive is a bit treacherous in the snow and ice, pleased the rails were in place to help you. I think a lot of Europe have had this arctic blast, it looks lovely but does cause so many problems. Have you managed to get provisions Bev.
See you soon
Love kate xx
When I went out on Monday to pick up my two new foster guinea pigs, the snow started to arrive so I popped into the garage for milk etc. It’s been a great week for using up those things that have been in the freezer for too long and those cook in sauces I bought but never got round to using. Tonight I had beef burgers I bought ages ago when the boys came but never got round to cooking them. I can’t remember the last time I ate burgers but they were posh handmade ones with herbs and onion. Very nice. Only 4 in the pack so have tomorrow’s meal as well.
A couple of my younger neighbours phoned to see if I was OK and needed anything. I had to smile. Am I the old lady in the street now. Good to know they care as I rarely see them normally.
Have a good weekend.

Yes. I had a neighbour call in to ask if I needed anything from the co-op. I'd already been out to get my paper ! I have enough food at any time to withstand a siege !
Are you in business fostering guinea pigs now ?
xxxx
Apart from12 years when we had a dog, I’ve always had guinea pigs. The dog died the year Colin was diagnosed and on my following birthday, one of my sons gave me 3 guinea pigs. When I was back down to I pig I went to a guinea pig rescue centre and my lonesome lady came home with two new friends and a bigger cage. That meant I had a spare cage and as the rescue was involved In rescuing 168 pigs from one house, I bought two to help out. Recently I was left with 2 in one cage and 1 lone pig as her brother and sister friends died within weeks of each other. We don’t know how old they were.
Anyway I decided I didn’t want to carry on the cycle of replacing but one of the pair didn’t want Millie in with them and she became very depressed on her own. The centre has now taken in another huge rescue and Sandra, who runs it, suggested I foster instead of buy. Any vet bills and holiday board are paid by her. When Millie dies, I can hand them back if they outlive her. Again I don’t know how old they are but they have previously been fostered and their “mum’s” original has died so they have been handed back. They originated from a huge rescue in Cornwall. I took Millie on a play date 😆 to see if she would bond and it went without a hitch, Heidi started to wash her face and BenJovi tried to do what men like to do but Millie told him who was boss. She is a different pig. No longer depressed and they all snuggle up together at night.
That was a very long answer to a very short question. I bet you wished you had never asked 🤣.

Bev it always makes me laugh when you tell me about your guinea pigs . I'm not sure why but you sound more like Beatrice Potter. When I see my grand children's guinea pigs seem quite boring !

Mine are indoors and have always wheeked when they hear me open the fridge or come in the front door but BenJovi wheeks every time he hears me. The first thing I say in the morning is, “Morning girls” and they all go onto their two back legs asking for breakfasts. I hope BenJovi doesn’t mind me calling him a girl. I do handle them a lot and they will sit for hours on my lap while I watch TV. One at a time though. Nail clipping is a mammoth task though and Missy has very long hair which has to be trimmed regularly. The back end of Missy with her hair brushed a certain way looks like Donald Trump. That was my 8 year old grandson who discovered that with Missy on his lap and brush in his hand. He was correct, she has the same coloured hair.

Love it!! I was an elementary school teacher early in life and had 2 angora guinea pigs in my classroom in Prince George (500 miles N of Vancouver.) One year I didnt get any volunteers to take them home for the summer and had to bring them to Vancouver with me. I made a "pen" for them so they could be outside with me when I was working outside but they both escaped! The amazing thing is after a day and night (!) of searching, I found them under a neighbour's hedge! They made it back to PG with me. One was pure white but with the most beautiful dark eyes (not albino). I just loved them
I was tempted to NannaB but chickened out. xx
