Hi

Feeling exhausted, Rog's yearly review for funding, very nice professional assessors but two hours is enough!

Impressed re all the evidence i had gathered so fingers crossed safe for another year, but assume nothing.

Have a calm evening

Julie

Hope all goes well for you. What a pleasant change if you had `nice professional assessors` !

I am still gathering evidence for our appeal against the withdrawal of our funding, which is difficult as P is in a nursing home and I have to challenge their record keeping etc. However it`s not impossible and I am battling on. I have a date in late November for the appeal meeting with the CHC team leader and have been told it will be up to 12 weeks after that until it goes before the Panel again - so hardly trying to help, are they ?

Good luck.

It is so upsetting to hear that, nanBabs. Its a heartless system. The advantage of Chris deteriorating so quickly was that we were saved all that !

Good luck to you, love Jean xx

Dreadful, the nursing records will probably be written by care assistants who are lovely but may not grasp the importance of pertinent record keeping, i asked for reports from OT , SALT TEAM, DN, CONS and HOSPICE and hospital discharge summaries, also Must assessment and waterlow score, the assessors just want evidence and more evidence , which is a pain, have you thought of using one of the advocacy agencies?

Good luck

Hi Julie,

Yes, I have spoken to Beacon who gave good advice but of course it entailed gathering as much evidence as possible - which I am.

I really would prefer to devote all my energy (such as it is !) to P instead of using it to argue his case.

I met a social worker today - for the first time. I had asked her for all the records they have but - guess what - there aren`t any ! I am now very interested to know how the Local Authority rep could agree to withdraw funding without having had a social services report.

You are spot on about the nursing home records too; the care workers are lovely but I have already challenged their record keeping.

Thanks Jean,

You are so right - it is a heartless system. P has deteriorated recently, his coughing/choking is much worse despite medication to ease the thick saliva (it has also made the constipation worse) and I think he`s feeling exhausted because of the physical effort so he`s not eating or drinking much now. He performed unbelievably well when we finally had an `urgent` visit from the SALT - better than he`s been for well over 12 months !! I was speechless - never mind him.
