I am feeling so happy......

Yesterday Jayne came and did an amazing job cleaning my flat.

She changed my bed and will now come every other week.

She loved my apartment and also my glass collection which she carefully cleaned.

I have also contacted a care provider and they are sending a helper for showering because my left arm is becoming more 'useless'.

The journey continues........

Patrick.

I told her I had a neurological problem that was only going to get worse, she was very understanding .

She has a 23 year old son who lives with her, he is autistic and will probably never be able to live on his own.

She also cleans for a lady who is 105 years old who refuses to go into care.

I am sure over time we will become good friends.............

That's good. Having people come into your home is hard. If they can become friends, that makes things alright.

Hi Patrick, this is the first time I've read one of your posts.

You are one STRONG guy.

I love your positive attitude.

So pleased you are in a happy place! You deserve it! Hope all keeps going well.

Have you tried any more photography? - or is the arm being a problem? Or carrying the equipment? !

My dad was almost blind and still tried! When it's in the blood, you still keep trying!

Hope to see more.

Hugs

Yes it is a problem...... but I come up with ways.

I have a week in LISBON soon and have booked a room with a view so that I can take some pics.

Way to go! Nil desperado carborundum! Used to be translated as don't let the b****rd grind you down.

Am off on my own trip near Napier, out in the bush. No power, so little gas stoves no frig, freezedried food, no charge for camera battery. Just like camping but a firm wall and hopefully a roof that doesn't leak! Hope I can find better options for food too!

Hugs

Hi Jen,

Sounds like a great trip.......

All my children love 'Wild camping' and it is the best way to recharge life's battery.

Have to say I love your glass collection too Patrick, who is the manufacturer? I'm also pleased that you are getting domestic and personal care help, I think you will soon feel the benefit and not have the horrible struggle trying to do everthing yourself. Well done you.

Hi Kate,

The glass is about 40 years old and was made in Malta........... the glasshouse was called MDG ( Malta Decorative Glass ).

The pieces I have were designed by Vicente Boffo who at one time worked for Whitefriars and Mdina Glass.

I am glad you like them........

Patrick.

They are beautiful Patrick. I have some pieces of Mdina glass and have visited the workshop there a couple of times. My husband had a particular interest in Malta as he had spent part of his childhood there.

So glad to hear you have some help now and that your helper appreciates your lovely things.

Great news patrick. A good cleaner is hard to find and if she loves your flat she'll do a good job every time. Glassware beautiful and very unusual. Good luck with showering.

Well done, Patrick.

When I made the difficult decision to have a cleaner I struck gold !

She is Lithuanian and also turned out to be an official carer ! It quickly developed into her cleaning the house, showering Chris etc whilst I had 4 hours off !

I called her my treasure and she became a friend and her and her husband will come to Chris' funeral.

Hope you are as lucky.

Love the glass.

I take my hat off to you for deciding you could use some support. It takes lots of courage. Your cleaner sounds lovely and she will very quickly become a normal part of your routine. I dreaded having to have carers in to support my husband but ultimately had to admit I couldn't manage without them and they are now a normal part of our lives. Have a wonderful holiday - you deserve it !

Nothing like clean sheets and clean home, especially if you're not the one doing. Good to hear you have help.

Take care

Good for you!! Nice collection - Is it from one favorite artist or are all a particular style? What is this interesting pattern?

They are all about 40 years old and from a Maltese glasshouse...... 'Malta Decorative Glass'

The grid like pattern on some is what sets it apart from Mdina Glass.
