I was the caregiver for my husband until his death. He was first diagnosed with Lewy Body in 2010 and a year later with CBD. He also suffered from having broken his back in a parachute jump in the 1960's which they didn't find until x-rays in the 1980's. He had back surgery fusing L5S1 in 1987. He was a Green Beret, a Special Forces soldier, and then enlisted and became a Commanding Officer in the Military Police. He never complained, never gave up thinking that he could do anything that he set his mind to, even fighting to the end.

But he suffered all the indignities this disease could throw at you, all the pain, all the suffering, without complaint.

Heart felt sympathies for your loss. These diseases are not a one-size-fits-all so the length of life varies from patient to patient. Only by brain autopsy at death can the TRUE disease be identified. Many times diagnosis is one disease (CBD, LBD, MSA, PSP) but autopsy identifies a different one of the four diseases. Symptoms cross over from disease to disease so diagnosis can be incorrect. Janet Edmunson who wrote a book "Finding Meaning With Charles" husband was diagnosed with, I believe, PSP but at death autopsy confirmed CBD. Could be the other way around, I don't remember for certain. Point is the diagnosis was incorrect. Stay strong and take care of yourself. Jimbo
