Painful orgasm after radiation, normal?

Hi All,

I finished my SBRT treatments almost 2 weeks ago. Overall, I've tolerated side effects well. I suspect the SpaceOAR helped keep the rectal issues to rather mild outcome. While there is an occasional urgency feeling, nothing else significant there.

Urinary function has definitely been more of an issue with urgency, frequency, weak stream and occasional straining. I definitely know my prostate is not happy with a pretty consistent burning sensation where it lives, which makes sense considering what radiation does.

My erections have been good so far. My doc did prescribe Viagra to help avoid stenosis, but I'm still waiting for it in the mail. I know I need to read up more on how to use/manage it for this purpose. I have found my erections seem to irritate my prostate and cause the burning feeling to increase.

But my big question from the experience of others is regarding orgasm. I had my first orgasm since treatment complete and it felt like someone stuck a hot poker up my bum! Yowza did it hurt! I am going to ask my doc if I should be concerned, but considering what has gone on down there, I suspect this is normal. What have others experienced and how long did it last for you? I'm very gun shy 😁 to try this again any time soon, but I know my libido will definitely be asking to be honored...

I think of it as getting a very bad sunburn inside there. Like a sunburn, the irritated tissues will get better over time.

Start taking daily low dose (20 mg) Viagra ASAP.
