25 weeks pregnant? Recommend best things to avoid c section.

Hi, how are you? Today i went to my gynecologist who will do my delivery. I am 25 weeks pregnant. Every thing is okay just baby is in breached position. We generally ask what should we expect i will do normal delivery or csection. He said be prepared for c section. But honestly i want normal delivery. Anyone who face this situation and have normal delivery? Please give me some hope i don't want csection.

I wouldn’t worry about a c section just yet, there is still plenty of time for baby to turn. My son was breech until 31 weeks and no one even suggested a section so I’m surprised it’s been mentioned for you.

You can help things along though by keeping a check on your posture. Sitting on an exercise ball is good because sitting up straight gives baby more room to move.

But seriously, don’t worry x

Like the previous poster wrote you don't have to worry, it's so early. I didn't know baby's position until 32 weeks. By the time of your labour the baby may turn few times and most likely will end up in the right position. What is more if you're in the UK you can still request vaginal delivery of a breech baby, just note that many midwives don't have much experience in those so it's good to check later in pregnancy should you need to.

Hi lovely, I would say to wait until you reach 35 weeks pregnancy to see if the baby has moved around. There is a lot of space in the womb that your little one is exploring at 25 weeks. If you are worried, I know that acupuncture can help to shift the baby’s position so she is lying head down. I have a friend who did it and it worked. Best of luck!

Hi, I agree with all above posts that it's still too early to worry as baby will very likely move head down by 36 weeks. If your little one is determined to remain breech, ordinarily your midwife would give you plenty of helpful tips and resources to consider trying, to encourage baby into a better position. My friend used Spinning Babies which you may find useful too - spinningbabies.com/pregnanc.... Good luck! Xx

Hi, conversely i never wanted a c-section either and was suggested a planned one for 'large' baby (in the end she was only 7lb 8, but am 5ft2 and petite). Despite the drawbacks of c-sec, after over 87 hours of being in labour and little dilayion amomgst other problems, i was highly relieved to get baby out and staff were brilliant for my care! In hindsight i would have done csec earlier.x

It is very early still with plenty of time for baby to turn, but check out Spinning Babies for exercises to help alignment giving baby more room. In particular doing daily forward leaning inversions. Even if the baby is breech you should be able to have a vaginal delivery, the problem is that hospital midwives are not normally trained to support that which is why the default policy is a c section, which I find really sad as it robs women of a choice. C section is a major surgery. A private midwife who knows how to handle breech would be great but it is pricey and they are in demand. But again 25 weeks is very early with plenty of time for baby to turn!
