Having had to have an unplanned csection due to an undiagnosed breech baby my main advice is definitely make sure you have plenty of granny pants. Be prepared to find it difficult at the beginning but at least you have your husband on hand to help out. Make sure you take things easy in the way of lifting and exercising. Make sure you have plenty of cushions to prop yourself up with. Best of luck, my second is due on the 15th and hoping for a normal delivery this time.

Congrats in advance. I had a planned c-section and these were what helped

- buy pads like pants, (teena) is a good example, So you wear and dispose at least for the next 10days

- have cooked food frozen, So husband can just bring It out and warm for you

- drink lots of water, get a water bottle beside you

- don't lift things except baby, don't rush to work

- enjoy every moment.

Wishing you a successful c-section.

Hi there, I've had 2 c-sections, 1 unplanned and 1 planned, the most important things I learned are to keep the wound as dry as possible, you'll have a dressing on the wound for only 24 hours then it is left exposed, keep it dry and clean, it will probably be numb for some weeks or months after, it feels weird but is completely normal.

Also when your walking try and stand as upright as possible, if you bend over a lot when walking it will put extra pressure on your back and give you terrible back ache.

Have lots of pillows to prop you up in bed, sleeping on your sides may not be possible for a couple of weeks, so extra pillows/cushions will come in handy. Don't lift anything heavier than baby, not even a kettle. It will cause pain.

Don't wait to be in pain take pain killers every 4 hours at least for the first 2 weeks.

I suffered really bad with constipation after my first c - section so after my second I had about 1 and half pints of pure orange juice every couple of days, it helped to get me going toilet again and it stopped constipation, it didn't give me diarrhoea just soft stools,

You'll need plenty of maternity pads, don't use normal pads they just won't be enough.

Sleep when baby sleeps, you'll need it.

Wear socks when you go into theatre, it's freezing in there.

Don't rush things, the body needs time to recover, you're having major surgery. Rest, rest, rest.

And above all. Enjoy the time with your newborn, they grow so quickly.
