Babies don’t need bedding as such. Just a sheet for the Moses basket mattress and then a blanket or sleepbag for them to keep warm. We used an angel care bath seat for bath time and that was really handy as babies are super slippery. Feeding depends on if you are bottle or breast feeding. I bottle fed so got a few bottles and a couple of tubs of formula in and also bought the tommee tippee prep machine to make bottles up quickly
I used a muslin 70x70cm and used to "swaddle" baby. YouTube swaddle new born baby.
This swaddle and their chlothes and room temperature room will be ok. Blankets may cause SIDS death from suffocating so the hospital recommend swaddling or "Baby Sleeping bags". They are blankets the baby wears
Sleeping bags are good as they won't come off if baby wriggles around, it's good to have at least two.
Washing powder or liquid specifically for babies.
If you're planning to breastfeed you shouldn't need anything but I found it a relief to know I had some formula and a bottle or two in the cupboard but you can see how it goes and get those things later... and a microwave steriliser if you end up using bottles.
Maybe a couple of those hooded towels for baths? There's no reason you couldn't use your own towels but baby skin is so soft and our towels are all old and rough!!
Washing powder or liquid specifically for babies.
What else...Loads of nappies. Cotton wool, barrier cream.... Good luck - not long to go now xxx
Firstly congratulations.... my baby has just turned one and I’m a first time mum too.
For sleeping you’ll need a sleep gro bag as that’s the safest way for baby to sleep at night.... they come in different ‘thickness’ 2.5 tog and 1 tog... I would get both as you’ll need a 1 tog for summer/warmer months and 2.5 tog for winter.
You’ll need sheets for the bed of course which you can buy anywhere really mama’s and papas, Asda baby etc .
Depending on whether you’re breast feeding or bottle feeding. If bottles... then you’ll need a steriliser/bottle brush to clean the bottles or if breast feeding you may like to get a breast pump so that you store milk in the fridge/freezer.
Regarding bathing... we used a ‘snuggle bath’ and that lasted up until now really.
Hope that helps... feel free to message me if you need any advice.... good luck 😘😘.... I loved getting my baby bits so was so exciting 😘😘
i used aveeno baby products as they were recommended such as there bath wash and cream and I also used vaseline. I used Vaseline on him a lot as a new born especially around his bum and private’s but you could also use Johnson’s baby oil.
Ohh ok... well the link I sent you’ll see sheets for a Moses basket and also the grow bags... mamas and papas are a little bit more expensive so depending on your budget etc but you can easily find things on Asda as well that are great quality too 😘😘
Please don't your the baby in bed with you it increases the risk of cot death.
You'll need a moses basket, or Crib
A waterproof moses basket sheet
Celluar blankets, top sheets, moses basket sheets. You can buy these from asda, dunelm, mamas and papas, John Lewis, matalan. The baby won't need a cot till 6 months
gro bags are good but not recommended for newborns
Bathing, any baby bath will do, we found a snuggle bath best
Nappy cream, sudocreme is fine, baby bath, just look for one with the hand symbol on which means its been tested by the skin institute, nappies, wipes, cotton wool for newborns
Baby towels and a baby sponge
non bio wash powder and comfort pure for washing their clothes and bedding
Napisan and bucket for soaking stained clothes
Feeding : formula, bottle brush, a few bottles but you might need to change brands, steriliser.
You can buy alot of this from, amazon, asda or boots and they have baby events on
If you download the bounty app they have lots of advice and lists of what to buy etc with are really useful
Either a sleeping bag (must be the correct size) or a muslin to wrap them. No pillows or blankets. You can put him in a Moses basket or a cot with fitted sheet. Clothing wise just buy lots of vests (long or short sleeved or sleeveless with poppers at the bottom end and no need trousers or leggings - you change them 10-12 times a day and you want something simple to put on and take off). If you breastfeed you don’t need equipment just maybe a muslin as cover when you are out (sun could be in baby’s eyes in the summer). You can easily bath a newborn in the kitchen sink. And again no equipment or special bathtubs needed. Hold the baby under the arms with one hand and use a flannel to gently clean his head and bum. No soap, shampoo needed. If it is a summer baby buy a big sunhat and some socks. No shoes needed. If it is a winter baby then buy a thick snowsuit and some cardigans.
There is really no need to buy anything fancy. You can change you baby on the floor or bed, just put a changing mat down. No need changing table or special bins. Good luck. I have three children now aged 1, 3 and 5. Pm me if you want more info. X
Clothing wise. Don't buy outfits. It's pointless, all they do is eat sleep cry pee poop repeat at that age.
I would buy sleepsuits lots of sleepsuits and long sleeve/short sleeve vest to wear under sleep suits
The best nappy cream for baby bottom is weleda calendula nappy cream. I buy it and I love it and I will not use anything else.
Baby does not need shampoo or soap just warm water bath after the umbilical cord is gone. Bath with just water
No need to moisture, after 3 months I moisture with "child farm moisturizing lotion"
U need car seat to leave the hospital and hat, newborn babies loose temperature via their head the fist few days so always wear hat fr 1 week. I think less? To check if baby us hot or cold feel the back of his her neck. Not hand or their feet etc.
Generally they should wear 1 more layer than u. If you are wearing a t shirt and jumper they need to wear 3 layers.
If you are just wearing a t shirt cz it's summer then they need 2 layers.
Babies don't need to bath everyday we bathed him every 3 days at the beginning.
It's ok to have questions. All the best and take lots of pics my baby is growing so much I see him everyday so I don't notice. Wish I took more pictures at the beginning but I was very sleep deprived on survive mode
