Hello , I had my baby recently and I am expressing milk with electric pump because my baby is not latching, midwife suggested me to express milk , My baby has been getting mixed feed every time when ever I feed, am not getting that much milk how much my baby needs, is there any particular foods to increase my breast milk supply .my intention is to give only breast feed to my baby 👶 but I can’t do, getting frustration, depressed as well.

Are you sure your not producing enough milk, are you pace feeding? There are videos of it online but it allows baby to feel full instead of drinking it too quickly. Also to increase supply just making sure you are eating and drink enough of any kinds of food is important. It's basically a full time job drinking and eating enough. Also skin to skin and increasing frequency of expressing, even if you dont get much that time its putting the order in for your body to produce more. Your doing great just giving any breast milk.

Fenugreek tablets help increase supply. Have you tried nipple shields? My son was only able to bf if I was using one of those seen as my nipples are usually so flat and he couldn't get a latch otherwise x

Hi dear

I have tried nipple shields but with that also he is not latching, he tries for some time,if milk is not coming,he didn’t try to latch again and again

Have a look on Facebook for the group exclusively pumping mummies UK, there will be lots of tips on how to increase your supply and manage expressing full time

Hi there. How old is your baby? How often are you pumping - and are you pumping at night?

Your midwife needs to be giving you help to latch the baby. Or coming out to help get baby latched on. Keep trying to see if they will feed each feed, don’t give up, sometimes babies can take a little while. Try squeezing some milk onto their lip.

This video is great for helping

Food doesn’t make you produce milk. Your milk is made from

Your blood and regulated by milk being extracted. And hormones at first. The more you feed or pump the more you make. What size feeds are you giving? X

Hi there thats great you are trying each feed. How often are you pumping? If hes not latching, then you need to pump every 2/3 hours - so as often as he should be feeding, including at night. When you pump, put a sock over the bottle so you cant see how much is coming out. He probably needs about 1oz an hour at his age.

Hi, i had the same problem, I'm still expressing 3month later and now I have a great supply, I started expressing basically ever 2 hours to up my supply and ate loads off oats as my breast feeding support worker said this is good. Now I only express when my baby has a feed and I can get roughly 7oz each time. Its all about training you supply which does take time unfortunately. It took me roughly 1 1/2 to get a perfect feed out
