What’s your favourite gadget

My weakness is kitchen gadgets.I love all the time saving stuff, like air fryers ,soup makers, health grills my most recent was a digital slow cooker, you can remove the pan-to brown food on stove top then add other ingredients and stock, it’s been great so far. This week I bought a little fairy cake maker,I need to be gluten/ lactose free so I can have some fun experimenting with this,I’ve never been a baker.

You must have a big kitchen for all those gadgets! I use my processor for everything so I wouldn't want to lose that. I've had an ice cream maker and juicer in the past which never really used much so gave them away.My husband considers a garlic press as a gadget, (he's a bit old fashioned!)

Enjoy the fairy cake maker! I enjoy baking so wouldn't ever consider, but interested in knowing how it works?

in reply to

Lol no the exact opposite my cupboards are rammed with the things.I go through phases of using whatever one takes my fancy. The fairy cake gadget is on offer from Lakeland just now so I thought I’d give it a whirl,it’s just mixing the mix then pour into the heated cups things and they bake in 6 mins apparently,it’ll prob get used once or twice then join the rest in the cupboards lol.

Hi my mam has a George foreman grill use it for all-sorts even sliced apples bit oil on even warmed pie in it but was bit flat 😁😁I'm watching Corrie but it quite boring mam has a bun maker she made York's puds in it 🤗🌛🌟

I don’t have a lot else to keep me amused right now so I enjoy cooking and I batch cook using my gadgets, they help me a lot as I have pernicious anemia amongst other things and suffer terrible fatigue so gadgets are my go to.

I don't do much in the kitchen due to health problems but I love a slow cooker too and a Nutribullet type blender. And a good saute pan.

in reply to Niao

We find we have to adapt everything when we have health problems don’t we,no heavy pans no bending in ovens it’s really frustrating,I don't even iron now as p.a deficiency makes you very clumsy and ive had so many bad burns simply by misjudging where my iron is when picking it up that I avoid it now.We adapt and cope as best we can and I even have dinky wee toast tongs t get the toast out the toaster without burning myself, only cost a couple of pounds but essential for me.

Sounds good to me lol.

MadBunny in reply to

It is. The sachets of chocolate, which are just grated chocolate, nothing added, are quite expensive, but it's my indulgence😁

in reply to MadBunny

I have a milk frother and every night at 8 pm hubby makes me a cappuccino with frothy milk and shaved chocolate on top it’s such a treat and helps me sleep. You keep indulging yourself and enjoy.x

Years ago at my sister in laws upstairs flat we were eating a meal. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a mouse, it was sitting in the middle of the floor watching us. I have never been scared of them, but she lived in a second story town house. So where did he come from?

in reply to san_ray70

Mice can get in through smallest gaps rats can't a mouse can shrink it's spine 😻🌻

in reply to

Rats can.. And they are very good at climbing.

in reply to

Hi no rats aren't as felxible as mice I was told a notice can get through size of pencil hole

in reply to

Rats are more flexible than you think..

If you let your cat out a few days to mark it's boundary you shouldn't really be getting any mice on your house.

in reply to

They were nesting in greenhouse was bag fish food couple mo this ago and pixie cought a few outside saw real tiny ones coming up from close to house where the step is were right next to park so it's expected, it's noisey here next doors having front parking done 🤯

Jacksc06 in reply to

You are right. Where i used to work we had regular visits from pest control as there were food products. The Guy carried a pencil with him and told me that" If i can fit this pencil in a hole a mouse can fit through it"

in reply to Jacksc06

It's hard to understand because of the head tho 🤔🌻

If there's food available they will squeeze through.

Hope your feeling better now ? I think we all need some alone time when we are low, that works for me,I watch my stupid vampire series or catch up on first dates or something equally as daft lol,I’m just missing all my grandchildren so much.I know what you mean about the hair, august was last time I had mines coloured and I’m an ex hairdresser so people have expectations of us lol unfortunately I get root regrowth like everyone else but right now it’s actually looking nice and ombré lol. I do the same as you have on with the woolly hat and just get on with things.stay well ad stay safe that’s the important thing,my four cat friends are what gets me up in the mornings I love them all so much and they need me,everybody needs to feel needed.xx take care.

in reply to

Hi oh my pixie certainly gets me up on a morning 3 times middle the night for his biscuit snack😺 the night then morning to go out then I go back to bed then I get up to let him in, that's been my mam's main problem missing her great grand children we walk up to there house and wave and say hello but her first born great granddaughter used to come for tea every Friday after school she's 12 now it's so sad the seperation anxiety COVId has brought, hope you have a peaceful day hugs Mandy and pixie he's sleeping now next to me 😊😺🌻xx

Well my favourite gadget is an electric milk frothing machine, which is used every day to make a frothy coffee.

What do you cook in your air fryer, I tend to forget it is there, but recently I have started to use it for roast potatoes and chips.

in reply to san_ray70

I cook hash browns, homemade chips, sausages, bacon,I do the small roast chicken breast joints from marks, roast potatoes, roast vegetable mixes.I don’t use it to its full potential as I’m happy with the stuff I usually cook in it,I had the one drawer air fryer originally then I changed to the two drawer ninja so you can sync the cooking times for things that have different timings ie roast potatoes and a roast chicken breast joint or sausages and bacon if your doing a fry up,very clever gadgets I enjoy using them.

😂😂😂 great aren't they😊

I've tried a fair few in my time too Daisydot1. Sometimes they work out wonderfully and other times not so good. What I often find is that the one I've not liked and have donated to a charity shop, seems to have many others of the same type too, so clearly some are better than others! But not always. Before lockdown it was usual to see charity shops full of bread makers but some got snapped up as more people tried making their own loaves. For me it's a favoured gadget! I haven't bought a pizza base in years and whenever short of bread I can whip up a batch of delicious rolls in one and a half hours, start to baked. I hope you really enjoy your new gadget and that it's a winner for you! 👍

in reply to

Thank you and yes I tried the bread maker but the one I bought was so noisy that I gave it to a man who sells things to raise funds for his church Welfare so it went to a good cause.I’m moving soon and it’s a huge kitchen compared to what I have now, loads of cupboards to pack full of gadgets lol,I always ask the kids to get me gift vouchers as presents then I can indulge my gadget fetish with a clear conscience lol.A less noisy bread maker will be on my to do list lol thank you x

Morning Jerry yes I’m gluten free and lactose free.I had the bad combination of having pernicious anemia and HPylori so my poor gut is over sensitive and damaged now so we have to adapt to accommodate these things don’t we.Thank you for the link and the pancake I’ll have that as my virtual breakfast lol I’m dieting at the moment 5kg off 3kg to go.take care x

My husband said my kitchen needs elastic sides if I buy more. I am a kitchen gadget addict. I love them all, love my little pie maker from Lakeland, I use my little chopper every day as my hands are not as good as they used to be. My bread maker will be on in a minute. I cudnt decide which one I love, I use them all.

in reply to Lizard28

One of my best gadgets and cheapest were my wooden toaster tongs, they have a wee magnet on the side to attach to bread bin so they’re always handy,my fingers are super sensitive and I burn easily so taking the hot toast or roll out the toaster is so much easier with these I highly recommend think around 2,99 from Lakeland.

Hello Daisydot1

I can relate to the kitchen gadgets. We have bought many gadgets, key word "gadgets", that we don't have room for any more. Most end up in yard sales or in the basement. Only thing we use much is microwave and toaster oven. :)

I do like my slow cooker , especially for a winter stew especially coming home from work. I do use my soup maker quite often as you can go off for a walk and come back to warm nutritious soup.Thinking of an air fryer now, not sure which is best.

I used to be a real collector of 'gadgets' especially electrical ones, in fact my spare room is full of them, most of them electrically unsafe [mouldy batteries in them], all unplugged [I hope?] I have a metal detector [never used?] a mini jukebox/cd player, a 19 inch tv, dvd player etc, sometimes have nightmares about them? All unworthy ebay material! 🙄🙃😤🥴🤬

Yes to some extent but we do use most things, the most useless was a spiralizer, that finished up in a charity shop. We only have a small kitchen so our garage doubles as a utility space.

I find my microwave is something I never use so I may get shot of that when I move,I really only use it to warm up the dinner plates if I’m honest.I still put my beans or soup I’m rewarming in a pot on the hob. Today I’ve got my plug in hot water bottle coming, the last three bottles have burst on me so I’m fed up getting burnt and searched for an alternative and found this on Lakeland.fingers crossed it’s good if not I know I can return no problem they’re such a great company to shop with.

I have a thick glass globe counter top induction/convection oven that can cook a full chicken :) . It can air fry, and dehydrate. I have been using it for 1 year. I rarely use my microwave, so this counter top oven is also great for heating up left overs :| . My large standing (stove oven) has to be fixed, and I will not let anyone in during this Covid-19, 20, 21 pandemic :( . Honestly I purchased the igniter part, and I can fix it myself.:) Thank GOD for YouTube :) My second gadget/appliance is the Immersion blender where I can make smoothies, my sugar free fruit yogurt, and batters. :). I really don't use any other gadgets/appliances, but I was interested in the Spiralizer 's that were so popular 2 years ago.:|
