Ok I need a little cheering up

The last few days have been horrendous. I’m swearing off media. The last straw was this morning getting up and turning on the classical music station and they were playing Nearer My God To Thee! Just what we all need to hear right now!🤣🤣🤣🤣 ( it was actually in honor of the composers birthday) but it struck me as strangely apropos considering everything that’s happened.

Best thing to do for yourself if all media achieves is that it upsets you!

Until things calm down you’re right. It’s just nuts.

I'm trying to avoid the media as much as possible. They seem to thrive on negativity.

Hi MadBunny! You are absolutely correct. We are in a constant state of upset over here which they are only too happy to fuel. I just had to let it out a bit. It just struck me as bizarre that it was the first thing I heard this morning!

I know exactly what you mean.

Hi 😁yes we do need cheering up I'm working on some amusing posts during this lockdown in particular as is really a shock and bit hard to take in this new virus strain and now the African one, I'm limited now in taking photos outdoors and hanging about as police are patrolling where I live and my mam as I suspected said she's feeling real depressed we are going walking today and hope she doesn't panic as she's still waiting for vaccine and so I have to be more patient and compassionate towards my mam and spend less time on here so I'm a bit limited really and of course pixie likes all the attention too I'm even late in my sunset post, also struggling to keep 3 phones charged up with one good charger as mam's not sure if NHS will contact her old phone as they did to tell her to stay home in march so I'm glad you saw the funny side on your radio as that's all we can do right now and try not to let it drag us down thank god we have each other I'll pop a pic on hope makes you smile take care hope to chat soon hugs from us 😊😸🌷🌟xxx

Hi Curly1. I’m glad you and your Mam and Pixie are doing ok. Your situation is so severe in 🇬🇧. I’m praying for all of us that this will improve quickly. I stay mostly home except for an occasional trip to the store. It’s been to cold and nasty to walk much but we may see a little sun today! Cross your fingers! I’ve been notified by one of my medical providers that we will soon be up in our age bracket and they notify us. Progress! I do work one day a week so I do get out a bit. There’s only a few of us no customers right now so that’s good. I’ll have to switch to my computer to see the picture. I can’t get them on my phone.

Lovely picture! Our snow is kind of mushy and dirty now as it's been above freezing the last few days. I normally listen to a radio service through General Motors called Sirius. I don't know if you have it in the UK. No news no commercials, but is just happened to turn on the local station today. Maybe God wanted me to have a chuckle because things have been so dark and bizarre over here!👍👍

Its a strange time Curly so I'm not surprised at the way you are feeling. One day seems to roll into the next for me. We have to find things to interest us and to look forward to.Walking in the fresh air helps. Long term and a sports fan I'm looking forward to watching the Australian Open tennis, The Olympics, The World Cup and Wimbledon.

Take care of yourself and the little furry one.

Not insensitive at all! I just sent an email to my radio station saying the same thing! I just want everything to simmer down a bit and calmer heads to prevail! It’s so good to hear from all of you! I have tears in my

eyes. You all give me some balance in difficult times

Snowdrops_17 profile image
Snowdrops_17 in reply to Gillyflower18

Trust me I get a bit down at times but try to do something somehow! Go for a spin in my car to the postbox this morning, take photos of the snow, watch a good film and text my family how they are doing! It's true we need to stay in contact with Family and friends! Lockdowns are for some like a prison in their own home! That is tough on the mind! Even not shielding is still tough as you can't see family or friends either unless over WhatsApp or Skype! We will be going to get through this, right Spinner??!?💞💞💞💞☃️❄️☃️❄️

Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sledge 🛷🐎❄️☃️🤣 or down the motorway 🤣😁🤣😁

You are wise Mydexter. We get the same states here too. It can be very depressing and dark. The last few days the first thing i have been checking are the news summaries on my phone. Big mistake and i'm stopping it today. Its not worth making myself sick over.

We have. Not Watched the news since the beginning. Of the first lockdown. We find the presentation very repetitive and raises our anxiety levels.so we don’t bother with it,we pick and choose what news we want to read on the internet.

We do watch the Downing Street briefings and that’s about it.

The dept health (or govt) keep emailing me with information about shielding .

My sister in law who lives in Southern Ireland watches all the news and gets herself really worked up.we keep telling her not to watch It so much. The problem is that there is so many news bulletins.

Hi he's too fat lol he has a full bag just been in tenfort mam's baking bread cakes hope we're having home made chips for tea and fried egg with bread cakes we no bread until sort Asda priority order out so I've a bit of time left I'll post a few pictures and try say something uplifting 😁💛xx

It's hard to put photos on replies it goes big then sometimes takes over half the photo xx

I completely understand where your coming from. We put on a brave face but find it all very difficult. Like you I had a busy life, walking group followed by lunch, interesting trips, history society, environmental group meetings, craft group, exercise come social group and so on. The first lockdown was easier in many ways - nice weather, working in the garden, clearing cupboards and doing those jobs that needed doing for so long. Its a blessing being part of this forum and its going to help us all through the long months ahead.

So, for now, keep your chin up, and plan ahead for better times.

I working on working less hours this year. I have very bad feet and need an operation to correct them. Being a nurse I’m sure you understand the difficulty of being on your feet when they hurt! I’m paying down some debts from the past. Hopefully I’ll be in a better place financially in the future but for now I have to keep on truckin’ as they say!
