I woke up this morning (29/12) at about 6am of very painful indigestion. I've no idea what caused it but BOY!!!!WAS I IN PAIN!!! I had no indigestion tablets of any sort -so I had to call mum & ask her to bring some down which she did with some gaviscon
As far as I can remember (but unsure) Ive NEVER had indigestion before - Id just eaten normally
I feel washed out from it & a bit weak so feeling a bit down - to cap it all wednesday 30th at 11am is the 2nd of my December monthly blood test
Not looking forward to the beginning of January -because Im at the mercy of the NHS (i know they do a good job in everything they do -well most things they do) but with me its just blood tests blood tests blood tests if its not appointments with neurology rheumatology or chest medicine

Ouch! I know it can be extremely painful Sara_2611 and can even mimic the severity of pain of a heart attack. Great tip from Mydexter about the bicarbonate of soda. It really does work if there's no other remedy to be had. I think you are probably in good company with not looking forward to January. It's such a deflating month isn't it, with short days and nothing much to look forward too, and most especially this January for obvious reasons.
Sorry you have so many tests coming up, but although they are a nuisance, the results can give real reassurance or flag up things which need attention, so it's a must!👍
I know -it is a pain though -theres much nicer things id rather be doing though. My final pulmonary rehab is 11 January when I have to do another walking test -this time Im going to do it very slowly to try & keep the blood saturation in the 90s & if they say a bit quicker I will be making it clear that I wish to take my time because I dont want to be walking about like a spaceman carrying or wheeling an oygen tent around & certinly if they mention it second time Im going to refuse it outright & just use my own natural breathing & my spray. Ive pulled a muscle in my righ hand side so if its not better by the 4th then im going to phone them to cancel tht date for that reason
Can I say 'You Poor Old Thing' WITHOUT being Patronising? Good! I had a close friend, in fact -at one stage a Fiancé- who used to Really Suffer with her 'Tummy'. (In her case Not 'helped' by- neigh on continuous- constipation, the poor lamb.) Do you take Omeprazole? I have been Prescribed it, for literally years (22), to ''Stop the Drugs I, That I Take, From Interacting''. There are, the usual 'Contra-Indication/ Side Effects', but- unless your Medical Team indicate otherwise- it might be worth while you asking, about this, Sara.
My own Mother has, quite a number of, Food Allergies which Can cause 'Tummy Aches', along with 'Wind' and Diarrhoea/ Constipation. If you Do, start to, develop Any, of these symptoms, then an Allergy 'Check' might be worth considering. (If, for example, the 'formulation' of your Drug(s) has suddenly been changed....)
All that said... there is every probability, that you, 'Gulped Down' your Food... in order to Watch The Telly, Go Out (Covid Restrictions Dependant), Join In A Game, Collect The Children or just Phone Grandma. If this Doesn't re-occur then I wouldn't 'Worry' too much Sara.... Do get an 'Ant- Acid', just 'In Case' though. Do, by all means, Mention this to your Doctors/ Consultants, at your next visit (or Telephone Consultation). As I said earlier don't 'worry' too much- and have a very
Three teaspoons of whiskey or brandy neat brings instant relief. I always keep a miniature in my handbag just in case. I haven’t used it in two years. Bx
I’ve been thinking of you. I went for a nap this afternoon and I dreamed about you. You know if you have pain as bad as you had you should really call for medical help. Not mum. You could have been having an attack of anything at all and you should not have assumed bad digestion. Fortunately, that’s all it was and I’m pleased about that. I also used to hate whiskey and brandy and even though I still don’t like them I’m only too pleased to carry some with me just in case of need. My great grandma once brought back to life a « stillborn » calf by pouring whiskey down her throat. Con amore bx
I have found drinking something alkaline like milk helps a bit. I was getting constant indigestion so eventually was prescribed omezaprole which works well.
A friend of mines husband had very bad indigestion for a whole weekend and it turned out to be heart problems. Fortunately he got taken into hospital and they managed to prevent a heart attack and stuck stents in instead. Indigestion was the only symptom he had.I think if it is very bad and/or constant for a period of time it should be checked out. Especially if nothing works to stop it.
But if you are worried then get it checked as it's better to be safe than sorry.
Very good advise. I ended up having 4 stents fitted and now need a valve sorting out but the indigestion attacks came back twice recently after I over exerted myself trying to move a huge chest of drawers. Pays to stay safe even if you think you are feeling better!!
Worth getting checked out by your GP. It could be all kinds of things, some harmless, some not so. Could be as simple as all the rich foods we have probably eaten in the last week.
