Red bumps on waist line?

I have bumps around my waist line some turn really red with what looks to be a pimple on it and become inflamed. They don't itch but when some of them come up I can feel this prickly feeling and it kind of feels like its coming from the inside out. (That might sound strange) I have been to the Dermatologist who did a biopsy and said he didn't think it was cancer. That was the last thing I was thinking! He said the biopsy only has a 50 % chance of telling what is causing it. I've had PV for about 3 years now and was just wondering is this part of having PV? Any thoughts and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

What is PV? If this gets worse, call a specialist.

It stands for Polycythemia Vera or PV which is part of the Myeloproliferative neooplasms or MPN. My bone morrow makes to many red blood cells which usually is caused by a mutation. Mine is the Jak 2 mutation. I am already seeing a Oncologist/Hematologist.

Hi Alex9621, I expect you know that itching is part and parcel of PV but these bumps are a bit of a mystery, since they don't itch! However it might be worth your while to look at this link

There may be something there which would give you a clue. And maybe it would help to have a conversation with your GP. Consultants are often a bit lofty about the more common symptoms of a particular condition, where GPs deal more often with side effects which can only be managed. Hope you find some relief soon.

Thank you for the article as it was informative. I have seen my GP who referred me to a Dermatologist but I do have an appointment with my Hematologist 10-6 and will discuss with him. Thanks agian.
