Husband started to harvest Desiree potatoes for winter. This one weighs nearly 3lbs. Has anyone else dug up one of this size up? Good job they are good keepers as I don't eat them. π€

Hubby dug a whopper up last year (he's been growing Desiree for three years now) but it didn't weigh that much. Lovely spuds, also Red Duke of York are good too. Had potato blight this year on main crop, so frustrating.
Hi Diana about 40 years ago when you could buy spuds in 5Ib bags I got 1 spud in 1 bag that weighed just over 5Ib I was amazed, yours is the nearest size I have seen since, lol, good bashing, Spud Bashing regards Bevanboy
Our giant home grown spud won 1st prize, 50p and a certificate!! Much admired. There was only one other entry, a piddling little thing so no competition!! π€£ ππ Gave it to neighbours with kids to make giant chips, haha. Will have a reputation to keep up now....
