Smoke

A little smoky on the Northern California Coast today from what fires around the state.

This is 1600, and it looks like the sun has set. I think the smoke will lower as the temp cools.

There is nothing near us of concern.

It looks like an eerie strange glow from the photo. I am glad to hear you and your family are safe. I really hope you have seen the end of the fires in your area. Thanks for sharing the photo. 👍🌈

Unbelievable Dave, do you have to wear a mask because of the air pollution?

They talk about second hand smoke being bad for you and dangerous, this surely cannot be good for man or beast. It looks so thick. The smell must really get to you.

I suppose that the smoke will be with you until you have a strong wind or heavy rain?

Look after yourself and your family Dave,

best wishes, Tim.

The smoke was thicker today but we have seen worse. Nasty stuff that burns our eyes and throats.

Once the wind changes things will be better.

We are not spending a lot of time outside and have not been wearing masks.

Otherwise things are good.

Good Day Dave,

Great to hear that you are all well and coping with all that has been thrown at you this year.

I have to ask you how is my friend Old Ike, please give him a gentle hug and an extra treat from me, thank you!

There is a saying that I have said many times in my life especially over the last twenty years, “adapt or die”. That says it all. You have been definitely adapting to your many environmental changes.

Seeing the many images on the television of California I find it very difficult to believe the magnitude of the fires and incredible loss of wild life and the shocking air pollution. So few human lives have been lost, which is a miracle. The insurance bill for all that has been lost will be mind blowing!

I wish you well and your family Dave, take care of yourselves, Tim.

Thank you. Old Ike is doing well, he would say thanks for the extra treat but without thumbs he has a hard time typing. That and he never learned to read. He did have a nice bath today though so is feeling especially suave.

Adapting is certainly a requirement here these days.

I have heard from some people about only having 5 minutes to evacuate before the flames consumed their house. They were sleeping and unaware till the police banged on their door.

The authorities have mostly done a good job notifying people well in advance but now and then the fires move to fast.

They can speed along at 45 MPH under the right conditions, or turn into a fire tornado and throw embers a mile away which starts more fires.

I would be happy to adapt to an early rain!

Being on the coast we do have more fog occasionally which is nice and wet and helps out.

Things are good for us at the moment.

Hope you are well.

A very good day to you Dave

Thank you for your message, l am sure that Old Ike feels amazing now after a lovely bath. (And a treat). He must get covered in black ash from the fires as does everything else l am sure. The wind must just keep blowing the black ash everywhere. After a really good rain it will hopefully settle and the grasses and other plants will start growing again, many l suppose will have to wait until Spring.

It must be truly like the end of the world being woken up during the night and be given five minutes to leave your home and everything that you have worked your life for. Heartbreaking!!

I have seen wild fires travel at unbelievable speed, with the ‘right’ wind, fire breaks are great for small fires but pretty useless with the fires that you describe, nothing can stop them.

I am very pleased that you and your family are safe and able to carry on with your lives now.

Other parts of California are still suffering l see, terrible!

Keep well Dave, my best wishes to you and your family, Tim.

Our internet is being fussy with all the smoke. We have satellite. The only thing we can get.

Old Ike turned 12 last month. He is doing well but his knee bothers him and holds him back from the activities he enjoys. So we make accommodations to keep him happy.

Thank you for thinking of him.

Today wasn’t too bad regarding smoke. We were able to open the windows. Kind of been like a submarine in here with no air. We were only missing the diesel fumes. Well, actually, I didn’t miss that.

They say we might get some rain this coming week. That would be very welcome.

Hope you are well.

Thank you Dave for your message!

It must be such a relief to be able to open your windows.

Happy twelfth birthday Old Ike, sorry to hear about your knee. There is a dog Turmeric product out to help with arthritis etc. We used to buy it for one of our old dogs. Sadly I feel that we did not use it earlier enough.

Best wishes to you and your family Dave.

I tried putting turmeric in Old Ike’s dinner as an experiment. He didn’t appreciate it one bit so I ordered some tablets that are attractive to dogs.

Sounds like a good idea.

Thanks for that.

I take 600mg twice a day, have been for over two years. Amazing for arthritis, CRP , inflammation etc. A lot less pain since taking.

Best wishes, Tim.

Ike has been getting used to the turmeric and it does seem to help out with his knee. I guess it takes a few weeks for the real benefits to show but he is off to a good start.

Old Ike appreciates the suggestion.

My pleasure, to save Old Ike any, or even less pain I am very happy.

It will probably take a good few weeks of Turmeric to really help. The one side effect that humans suffer from if taken in excess is you can suffer from a runny tummy, so if that does happen just cut back for a while and increase again slowly.

The interesting point is we humans can believe that a new medication is helping, even when it is a placebo. Old Ike does not know what a placebo is, so l just hope that the Turmeric continues to help him. Another of mother natures self help products, non toxic!

Since taking Turmeric I have managed to stop taking quite a few medications, including Prednisolone / Prednisone, OxyNorm and Gabapentin.

I hope that you and your family are all keeping well, take care of yourselves, Tim.

Amazing how a spice can do all that.

A friend from Cambodia was hired as a chef for a retirement home years ago. He started cooking with his traditional spices that he knew had beneficial properties.

After awhile residents began improving: lower blood pressure and cholesterol, controlled blood sugar, improved arthritis symptoms, better weigh control and more.

Spices and various healthy ingredients can do wonders.

Hope you enjoyed your day.

Good day Dave

It is amazing, over the years we have lost so much important knowledge on natural healthcare.

I hope that you, your family and Old Ike continue to keep well, best wishes for a great weekend, Tim.

Hi dave, I've been wondering how you are with all the news that we've been hearing. Glad to hear that there is nothing you are concerned about and hope that it continues that way. Stay safe. x

Thank you for the kind thoughts and for thinking of Old Ike.

He had his twelfth birthday last month and is starting to feel his age.

It is sad to see after such an active life. His knee bothers him but otherwise is fine and comfortable.

We might be having of rain late this week. That would be vey welcome.

How you are well.
