Salsa

Today was making and canning salsa. Everything from our garden.

If my wife gags, and grabs water it is getting hot enough. I would like it hotter so we compromise.

Then our son comes in and says: I think you forgot to add the peppers.

He and I do like it spicy.

Our friend canned 350lbs of tomatoes today. He says it is a family tradition. I sure hope he wasn’t using a wood burning stove.

It looks great. I only ever tried salsa once in a restaurant. My mouth swelled, the inside of my cheeks had big welts on them I had to leave the restaurant. Luckily I didn’t start with any breathing difficulties otherwise I would have gone straight the hospital. It looked like I had a load of Botox pumped in my face. It went down after a couple of hours. I’ve never tried it since. I eat tomatoes so I know they where not the culprit. Looks good anyways. 👍🌈

California cuisine has a lot of salsa and hot sauce. Different levels of heat. I like it hot with a lot of flavor.

Once our peppers ripen we will be making a bunch of hot sauce.

Bummer about your first experience. It is supposed to be pleasant, not painful.

On the bright side people normally pay heavily for Botox. You got it for free!

As delicious as it looks dave, it isn't something I could eat as I have a very sensitive stomach but ten out of ten because it looks very yummy. Our potatoes have potato blight so that's our main crop done for, really upsetting as the insides of potatoes from the supermarket here between late autumn and through the winter are usually full of black areas and have to be thrown away, our tomatoes have been great though and we've had a glut. x

The blight is not fun. I feel for you. I never thought it was something we got here but I was wrong g.

A few years ago our tomatoes got it as do many of our neighbors.

Sort of put a damper on summer produce.

It’s the first of many as the tomatoes and peppers ripen.

You also. It is easier and less time consuming to preserve what we have then make the three hour round trip to town.
