Adjusting to life following Lockdown and Ramadan

I would like to say that I have found great kindness and understanding on this site.Lockdown and Ramadan has been a time of internal reflection and acceptance of life.

I have learnt and I am still learning to have gratitude for what we have and to make the best of our individual set of circumstances .

It is a time that many of us have been impacted with the ravages of this dreadful virus in terms of our mental and physical well being or our financial security.

I remember when the 911 bombings took place the Mayor of New York once said that he commended the spirit of each and every US citizen to rebuild their lives

Also Sir Tom given his pure act of Altruism which has continued to inspire others to help others. The lessons of life we rarely choose but are essential for our own growth, wisdom and maturity.

That’s a great post and a thoughtful summing up of the situation Roukaya. Is Ramadan finished this weekend?

Good evening

I hope you are safe and well

The last day of Ramadan is tomorrow

The the celebrations of Eid in U.K. are on Sunday

It is at times like like I wish I had a family with me

But in our religion we are taught to believe this is how it is meant to be

I’m well thank you.

I thought it was tomorrow. Yes I believe that too and I think we all have lessons to learn from this even though For some they might not be apparent until after the event.

Good evening

I thought it was tomorrow as well

How do you think life post lock down will be significantly different for you ?

Agoodenough profile image
Agoodenough in reply toRoukaya

Well I’m not sure if I’ll have any work as I do dog walking and with people working from home they won’t need me. The other way to look at it is lots of people have rushed out and bought a dog in the lockdown so it could be very busy but I doubt it. I’m not worried I’ll just have to do something else. Maybe a job working from home which wouldn’t have been possible before the lockdown. We will see.

This is very true

We have no choice but to be patient

This exactly the concern I have with my flat which has been my main income.

I have to be patient and wait for the Estate Agent to find for me a suitable tenant.

Things I once took for granted and the strategies we need to adopt in order to cope with life in its present form

I find in life when things are a struggle afterwards you are a stronger person. I think the agent will find someone quickly for you, rental properties are in demand. I hope so 🙏

What wise words you speak Roukaya and a positive post. I think it would be fair to say, we might have all learnt a bit about ourselves on this journey. We find we have more strength, more resolve, more empathy, so some things we may loose but they are replaced with things equally as good or even things that enrich our understanding of ourselves and other's, which is something good to gain. xx

Good evening

I hope you are safe and well

I think many on this site have been very kind and supportive to me

Ramadan ends tomorrow for U.K.

Part of me wishes I was with my Mother but given the impact of the Pandemic, I have no choice but to accept and adjust to the current climate and the reality of the situation.

I have reflected a great deal as I am a sensitive and introspective person and everything I believe happens for our greater good even though we do not see it at the time

I hope you are keeping well

Hi Roukaya, Eid Mubarak!

You seem to have had a really good personal journey during the month of Ramadan and ending it on a really positive and high note. I'm so pleased for you. We have all had lessons due to this crisis and its unusual effects on our lives. Not all of us will recognise this, but you, very wisely, have and you intend to act on yours. That's marvellous! Later on, when this pandemic becomes history, I think many others of us will reflect back and see exactly what we've learned. A very happy Eid al-Fitr! 🙏

Good evening

I hope you are well

Thank you for your kind reply

I have begun to realise I can no longer hold onto the door of regret concerning all the opportunities and hopes which failed to materialise

I worry for the future but also give gratitude that above all human life is to be valued and appreciated

If we are able , it is for us to make the best possible use and application of our time to devout to pursuits which truly make us happy and to be of positive value to others

Hey Roukaya, (or Piglet, your mums nickname for you 😁x)

Great to see you are much more

positive .I told you when you replied to my Winnie the pooh post weeks ago that there are many special people( piglets) on this site that would be there for you or anybody that may be in a bad place.

They were then and always will be and that makes me feel very humble.

You take good care of yourself, stay on this site, listen to the help/advice and things will only get better ( is that a song ?)xx

Good evening

I hope you are well

You did say right at the beginning there are many Piglets on this site and almost two months after Lock Down your words ring true

Very kind and sweet words

My Mother has many names for me

She has discovered the new delights of Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit

I could write a little book on the mannerisms of both of my parents

My Father was a real life Peter Rabbit at 80 years old

I would often call him the Asbo Dad

Both have their own individual charm

Hi Roukaya,

Everybody is special, we all have our places in this world, and there would be a You shaped hole in the world if you weren't in it.

Everybody's life has an impact on the world, whoever we are, and we interact with others and create a beautiful web, as our own thread intertwines with those of other folk as we go though life. Some folk we have harmonious interactions and the thread runs smoothly, others we have a fractious interaction and the thread knots and tangles, but we move on from it as the web continues to be woven.

We need to remember that the knots have passed out of our range, and move forward each day with new purpose, as we cannot go back. The future is yet to come, and the present, like its name, is a gift.

Eid Mubarak,

Cheers, Midori

Good morning

You have a wonderful way with words

Beautifully written with kindness and sensitivity

I think very kind and uplifting words

I am beginning to realise I will need to work very hard to build an independent life which I hope by Gods grace to fulfill

It all begins with us

I hope you are safe and well

Are you settling into your new home given the end of Lockdown

It must be exciting and very fulfilling to make a new change for the better

Hello Roukaya,

I try to think in a way which all folk can understand and I wish everybody well.

I have no place in my life or heart for deliberate unkindness, there is already too much of that, I feel that if we all thought more kindly and spiritually about others the world would be a better place.

That said, I will tell another off if they are being unkind. I'm not a pushover!

Cheers, Midori
