I'M HANGING IN THERE ON OLAPARIB. I CAN CREDIT KATMAL (KATHY) WITH THE ENCOURAGEMENT SHE GAVE TO ME. GLAD I DID, A LOT OF THE SIDE EFFECTS HAVE DIMINISHED OR ARE GONE. I DO HAVE NEUROPATHY FROM CHEMO AND I THINK FROM OLAPARIB TOO. HAS ANYONE FOUND ANY TREATMENTS FOR IT THAT ACTUALLY IMPROVE THE NUMBNESS? IF YOU HAVE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I, MY FEET AND LEGS THANK YOU!
STAY WELL AND SAFE,
LEE

A pallative Dr who is also a breast cancer oncologist recommended turmeric and B-6 daily along with a daily scoop of collagen (tasteless-I use collagen peptides) in my tea. Seems to help a little. My neuropathy got worse with Olaparib but I have had since July 2017 from two recurrences and chemo. Now they say to ice your hands and feet during taxol treatments to stop it from happening. How long have you been on olaparib? I came off it July 21, helped with some areas but still had tumor growing on liver. Also caused me to become anemic, had to have blood transfusion. Hope you have some luck with the neurothapy
THANKS FOR THE REPLY. YOU'RE THE ONLY REPLY I SEE. CAN NEUROPATHY BE SO RARE WITH OLAPARIB? I HAVE BEEN ON IT SINCE DECEMBER 2019. I AM ON HALF DOSE. ASIDE FROM THE NUMBNESS IN MY FEET AND LEGS THERE IS DIZZINESS AND FATIGUE. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT A FULL DOSE WOULD DO. I WILL TRY THOSE THINGS YOU MENTION AND REALLY APPRECIATE LETTING ME KNOW. I HOPE YOU'RE FEELING WELL.
You are better than me, I couldn’t take it after 12 weeks. Started with full dose 600mg for 5 weeks and told my Dr. to please lower, went to 450 mg, 3 pills and all symptoms got worse. That is when I needed the transfusion and CA 125 still went down. Their concern for me is that spot on liver grew while on it and everything else was stable. The spot is still u see 2cm but they are concerned so now on to something else. I reacted quite well to Carbo/taxol so trying that first.
Neurothapy did get worse for me, Dr said it could and I also lost quite a bit of hair. Got very thin and very soft. Hope the suggestions work. Mine doesn’t ever go away, but feet feel better when in a shoe that I can tolerate, I was such a barefoot kind of girl for so long.
TAXOL/ CARBO ARE VERY GOOD DRUGS AND WHEN YOU'RE FINISHED WITH THEM, THE RECOVERY IS USUALLY VERY GOOD. MY DOCTOR WON'T EVEN ADMIT NEUROPATHY CAN BE CAUSED BY OLAPARIB. SHE'S NOT MUCH HELP AT ALL. SLIM PICKINGS DOWN HERE. THERE'S SUPPOSED TO BE A GOOD ONCOLOGIST WHO JUST DEALS WITH OVARIAN IN STUART. I THINK THEY SAID SHE'S EITHER ON US1 OR OCEAN BLVD.. ALL I REMEMBER IS HER NAME STARTED WITH AN S. I'LL TRY TO FIND OUT WHO SHE IS.
WISHING YOU VERY GOOD LUCK WITH TREATMENT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU'RE DOING. GOING FOR MY PET SCAN IN A WEEK OR SO- YUK- ALWAYS NERVOUS WITH THAT!
My doc is pretty good, who knows I go on Internet a lot and always ask questions. You should search to see if you can find that Dr. do you know what hospital that are with. Google all GyN oncologists in Stuart. You may get a hit. I have only had one PET Scan in April this year and have this awful disease since May 2017. I had 3 other areas that never showed on Pet Scan so for now I don’t have faith in them for me, but if I need another one I will certainly do, I took half an atavan, kept my eyes closed and counted thru the whole test. Next time I would take A whole one!
How long have you had OC and what stage? Saying prayers for good results and sending positive thoughts! Try to be more positive than negative, I always think there is someone out there much worse than me!
Keep in touch, keep safe, and big hugs!
Lois
