Altercation at the Bank

I have noticed that I am extremely sensitive and a fighter if I have to be .

I attended the Bank this morning as was told because I do not have a specific code to one of the accounts I am taking up too much time in order to go through alternative security.

I said I have alternative security and you should not blame me if others take time .

The bank clerk became angry and said I do not wish to deal with this matter anymore .

I became distressed and I spoke to one of the Bank Managers and made a formal complaint against that contempt she showed to me .

It has taken it out from me .

Lots of the banks in Cardiff have disappeared as well as they shut the Nat West one down in St Mary's St and another in Wellfield Road and one in Newport road in rumney that I know of and one in splott road has shut down as well.

The nat west in queen St is still there and one in city road in Roath.

catgirl1976 I'm in Penarth and we're very lucky to still have 4 banks here not that they've been open but that's covid, my friend in Llantwit Major has had to go to elsewhere for a few years now

in reply toLittlePaws

I love Penarth and Cosmeston lakes!

Llantwit major is quite a way out and I think its either Barry or Bridgend for banks nowadays.

Years ago me and my sister in law went to colhugh beach one Sunday which we really enjoyed and also the fontygary leisure park.

I would like to explain the bank clerk became angry and I reported her to the bank manager .

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya

The Bank Manager listened and a formal complaint has been lodged

I think there are time’s staff can take their anger

thinking they can get away with their behaviour.

I know how harsh the world can be and this is why I will not stand back and let others walk over me .

How are you

The west yet very warm

Very warm

My Mum is a little miserable today and I displayed the mini me version of my Dad.

My Father was a bit of a Rottweiler

Also saddened with the catastrophe of Lebanon.

I know there are mushy extremely super rich Lebanese who could assist to rebuild their country .

I don’t like to see pain and suffering

It makes me sad

I totally agree with you about Lebanon, it is a tragedy which didn't need to happen.

Cheers, Midori

Roukaya, I hadn't read this when I replied to you in Bazzak's post. I am not surprised you were upset. You did so well standing up for yourself in the bank and are so right that we should not let ourselves be walked all over.

Were you a small Rottweiler with your mother? If, so, brilliant!!! She needs to know she cannot govern what you do or the way you think.

I have been happy to hear you have been swimming too, keep at it R, you are getting there xx

Thank you

I hope your day went well

Have you started work ?

You may think I am a small Rottweiler but one of the reasons I have started swimming is because I have a figure of a Sumo Wrestler 🤼‍♂️

leo60 in reply toRoukaya

Roukaya, you do make me giggle! I hope when you are swimming you wear more than a Sumo Wrestler does!!

I am going to rename you Lionheart, I think it suits you perfectly, you are brave and you care oh so very much about everyone.

Please take time to see how beautiful YOU are xx

Thank you for your very kind words .

I am still Sumo .

I always tell this to my little Mum who takes pristine care of herself.

I always say I look like Sumo just to annoy her .

I hope you are well.

Thank you for your understanding as a real Leo through and through.

OOOOH! You rebel! Imagine annoying your little Mum on purpose!!! Love it!!

Keep up with your swimming, good for mind, body and soul.

Have a lovely weekend my lovely friend xx

Yes I have started back at work, I have been very apprehensive, but all in all it's not been too bad! Been lovely to see my customers again and catch up :) Thank you for asking xx

I would love to work one day .

I think once I have done the resit in Mid September I will start applying for a years work experience in Wills and Probate.

I realise today how important it is to have the qualities of Strength, Courage and Compassion .

My Father in his time a real Rottweiler built to last but his Dementia curtained his fighting spirit .

But he did tell me one day when I get going , I would really get going .

I have my little Mum with her not so little vocal ability .

The tiny little Pocket Rocket .

She is a little demoralised these days because her small property portfolio is empty.

She is religious but also a self made entrepreneur.

But tough little lady .

I hope you are able to have a peaceful and restful evening.

Your father was right, you will be unstoppable once you get going. Take the good qualities from each of your parents and run with them. You have the qualities you need, you just need to have faith in yourself .

You have a lovely evening too, look at your beautiful flower arrangements and smile :) xx

I am also saddened to see the plight of a Beirut .

Devastating and painful to the extreme .

Ironically the purpose of my visit to the Bank was to make a donation in me and my Mother’s name .

The Islamic Channel is launching a live appeal to raise funds for Food and Medical Equipment .

I can’t imagine the immense human suffering but I am hopeful International Aid will be able to assist in the recovery effort .

Sadly , I would like to know how many Lebanese Billionaires or Millionaires will be contributing to the recovery of their country .

There is a small minority of super rich Lebanese scattered in London and Paris .

I actually grew up in the Middle East as my Father was involved in Hospital Administration and it was while I was there I witnessed the immense wealth of the Arabs .

But the Arabs can be incredibly generous too so it will take great determination and self belief for the people of Lebanon to resurrect their lives and eradicate the corruption also which has played a systemic role in deepening the division between the wealthy and poor .

Good for you!

I saw on the news a small army of Lebanese people heading to the explosion site to help clear up. Very heartening to see.

I forgot to mention Beirut in my reply … they seem to be very resolute. Unfortunately probably due to years and years of having to be. How totally awful for them, and such a bad time for it to happen, if ever there would be a good time :( Devastating. I hope people in this country stop focusing on holidays, haircuts, pubs, nails and other such paltry stuff and think about others in this world and what is really important . My love and thoughts go out … xx

in reply toleo60

It makes you realise when things like the explosion in Beirut happen which are real tragedies how most things are petty when you put them into context.

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply toGhounds

Good evening

I hope you are well.

The whole reason I went to the Bank was to make a donation for food and medical equipment.

This devastating explosion took place three day’s after Eid and the Islamic Channel stated that the explosion took place 75 years to the day of Nagasaki and Hiroshima .

I expect when the bank clerk said that if I had the four digit code this would speed matters up and I answered back stating there are others who take much longer than me .

She became cross and I thought there is no way I can accept such contempt .

In all of this , it triggered memories how people humiliated my Farther as his Dementia set in .

People would insult and humiliate him sometimes telling me how ill he is .

I expect I fought back because in life we have to be respected and treated properly.

I am also sad to see the plight of a once wealthy country reduce to rubble

So many homeless and devastated.

But I believe the world will pull together a combined effort to assist in the rebuilding of the country .

I hope that God can enable the people of Lebanon the strength and courage to rise as a Phoenix from the Ashes .

I hope you are well.

My darling, it is a very heavy burden to bear, all of the various threads you brought up. I feel each of them and can understand how heavy your heart must be xx

I am so sleepy now, I must go to bed. You take care Lionheart, and I will be donating, as I hope millions will

Bless you, lovely lady, sleep well too xx

Not very accommodating of the teller. Selfish maybe?

You expect good customer services at a bank. Maybe the staff need some retraining. You are right not to put up with rude people. As for the devastation and damage caused be the massive explosion, we can only hope the people in the Lebanon get the aid they need quickly I’ve been following it on the news and it’s very sad what they are going through currently. They have much to contend with alongside the virus also. 🌸🌺

Good morning

I hope you are well.

I think I was taken aback given the contempt the bank clerk showed to me .

But I fought back

May be years of repression

Lebanon is leaving the world in Shock but I can only hope the Islamic Countries follow the teachings of Islam to help others in crisis .

Of course I wasn’t there but there’s a Saying there “his hers and the Truth”. Something you said at the beginning of your letter that You are “Very Sensitive” and a “fighter” if you have too. Sounds like it didn’t take much to annoy You? Could you be in denial that you possibly made it go to the next level? Think about it? I use to be like You. 🙏😷

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply toWant2BHappy3

Good morning

I hope you are well.

The issue is that she did not listen to me when I asked for the four digit code not to be posted to my address as the Post man is not putting the letters through the letter box .

She further more said I give up.

I realise there was a huge queue and when she said you are taking time I said not more than others

But I think it is coming to the point that a professional service means exactly that .

If the service is inadequate then this has to be addressed.

I work in a bank and all I can say is that you have been treated very poorly.Customer care is at the forefront of my job.We have procedures whereby if we cannot help you at the counter then we will forward you to a personal banker to deal ,a lot of training is needed in your bank so sorry you have been given that treatment x

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply toTinker26

Good morning

I hope you are well.

Thank you for validating my concern .

It would seem that I knew this treatment was wrong and a formal complaint was made .

I would never treat anyone the way I was treated .

In the end I was told , I give up .

The matter reported and will be dealt with .

I hope you are well

in reply toTinker26

Yesterday when I called in at nat west I was amazed to see how less formal banks are nowadays as its rare I go to a branch now.

I can understand your feelings. Two weeks ago I rang the Bank for a second time to try and speak to someone. I held on for fifty seven (57) minutes before someone answered me. I explained I only had three minutes left before I had to pay due to the phone contract. I asked her to ring me back. She never did!!!

Sorry to hear of your stress with the bank. I know how it feels when you stick up for your rights. I fight for my own rights , but also those over fifty and vulnerable but on occassions I feel I am being penalised, victimised or picked on for challenging difficulties or changes that not everyone can cope with unless someone takes more time. Security has just been changed by all financial bodies, it seems now we need on average 4 modes of ID and still they can hack our accounts , crash our digital access means ect. This is frustrating and exhausting for many who have health issues, or are more elderly & frail. Hope you feel better today but of cause your complaint will take more of your energy because of an uncaring teller. Take care, stay safe and don't be afraid to say what the problems are for you, they get paid to deal with problems as well as straight forward jobs. You have my full support of your correct actions well done. x

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply tokatieoxo60

I am fifty going on fifty one next week

I seem to be ok in health but even though I am this age , I refuse to be defined by my age and I do not think I am over the hill yet .

I stood up for myself as you say a very cold and uncaring bank clerk and I can only hope she is corrected .

Thank you for your support .

I suppose because I come across as lacking in confidence people can make a judgement.

This has happened so many times to me I hope you are keeping well in this heat .

Thank you for your offer of kind encouragement
