Did some birding and still can’t identify one. Nice picnic lunch.
We paddled a good bit, hiked a good bit more.
Then the afternoon thunder storms set in. Lightning and thunder all over the place. Very cool. Mostly over the ridge and away from us till we were loading up the kayaks. Then the rain set in. Icy little needles of pain when they strike.
At least we didn’t get the half inch hail stones which are common.
Hope everyone else had a good day.

Sitting here at, very nearly, 3am and Boiling Hot.... your 'Freezy' Hail Stones sound Beautiful! I've copied your lovely picture, I will probably re-size it to A4. (for my use only)
I had a friend, for a number of years- not now unfortunately- who was a superb Birder. She could identify, seemingly Any Bird, from just a 'glimpse' of the feathers. She wasn't, quite so good, with the Sounds/ Calls birds make.... but, just give her a 'stray' feather and, it was like opening an encyclopaedia.
A little joke, for you daveh121..... Two Red Indians are out boating, when suddenly, the weather changes. The temperature, starts dropping dramatically, so one of them lights a fire- and inevitably they sink..... Moral of this story 'You Can't Have Your Kayak And Heat It'!
It looks so calm and relaxing. It looks a beautiful place. We are also expecting thunder and lightening the next few days. The weather has been uncomfortably hot here the past few days.😊🌈
Typical, I really hope you don't get too many fires or what would be better none at all.
Oh my goodness, that's some heat.
That's the problem with the UK, we have air con in shops, offices etc but not our own homes, that's why we struggle. I understand how hard you're going to fine the heat with no air con.
Stay safe and I really hope you don't suffer too much with the heat.
You are fortunate there, with us it can stay hot and muggy all night and that's what it's been like for 3 nights so far this week, we've had to put our noisy fan in the room to keep us cool
Today and tomorrow are worrisome. It’s hot (109f), and supposed to stay that way for the next week.
We are due for dry lightning. It is already impacting Southern California with lots of fires started.
So we have the water pump and fire hoses laid out for structure protection. This is for small spot fires and embers. However, if something big comes our way we will simply run away with all the animals.
Everything is packed and ready to go with a full tank of gas.
Some of the photos of recent fires show fire tornadoes. Scary things.
We got pounded pretty good last night and morning. High winds (70mph) and lots of lightning, along with fires starting all over. More of the same for tonight.
The fire crews have been busy and are doing a good job as their resources get thinner.
Still hot but Wallow’s latest sketch made me feel cool again.
