The shop that inspired Charles Dickins to write the novel of the same name. Dickens was a regular at the pub below whi h was mentioned in A Tale of Two Cities

Ye Olde Chesire Cheese pub, built just after the Great fire of London 1666. Literary figures known to have regular visitors as well a Mark Twain, include Oliver Goldsmith, Mark Twain. Alfred Tennyson, Arthur Conan Doyle, G K. Chesterton, P G. Woodhouse and Samuel Johnson who's house I showed yesterday is just up the alleyway.

Next one is The Old Bailey and the scales of justice , it was built on the site of the old newgate Prison going back to the 12 century

And last the memorial to Sir William Wallace who was executed near this site at St Bartholomew's Hospital Holborn, shame the Hospital wasn't there at the time!

Sorry for the waffling 😁x

You're not waffling. I have a high level qualification in waffling, so I know.

I used to be an outpatient at St Bartholomew's hospital as a child. (No, it wasn't for bad joke therapy!)

I also spent a couple of weeks in St Thomas's hospital. My bed had an excellent view across the Thames to the Houses of Parliament. It was beautiful at sunset. Even though I was in hospital and in pain, I always remember that time with great fondness. πŸ˜€πŸŒΈ

London has a great history. I have only been a couple of times to watch West end shows. I visited Harrods once. At some point I would like to take my two grandchildren the Natural History Museum and Buckingham palace. They are 5. 😊

We are both up early πŸ™‚, at that age they would both love the Natural History museum and the changing of the guard at Buckingham palace, I nearly starting singing that then!.😁x

I worked for an American company for over fifty years and in my work travelled to many countries around the world, but never to the United States!. One of these days I will go there, it too looks beautiful. X
