I hope you've all had a good day. I rode my bike to see a friend today for coffee so wasn't on the country road at all. Always chance for some photos tomorrow as I'm meeting my family on Dartmoor.
I rode 17.24 miles.
Have a good evening all.
Alicia

Thank you, it'll be Dartmoor with the family tomorrow.ππ
(I am in the States, so our time is differentβsorry.) I love it when you recount your latest bike ride. As I have said, your rides make my little six miles seem paltry. I didnβt ride today, because it was rainy; our area (southeastern North Carolina ) has had nearly a foot more rain than usual. My ride is strictly for the exercise; I make use of a city hiking/biking trail, which is convenient and safe from vehicular traffic. Your example inspires me to lengthen my rides on the trail, and for that I am grateful to you. As part of the over eighty crowd, I want to stay as fit as I can. Do keep up the good work and thanks again for sharing it..
Oh my goodness, please do not apologise, I don't leave my phone on at night.
Thank you and please do not call 6 miles paltry, the main thing is you enjoy it. Oh my goodness, that's a lot of rain,I will ride in drizzle and light rain but not heavy rain.
That's great you have a trail, so much better and safer. Thank you, that's so lovely of you to say.
Oh my goodness, you do amazingly well and you're the one that's an inspiration, well done.
The weather was a bit dodgy in middleton north manchester today so didnt go out at all -tht said Ive got to wait until 31st july before I can go out because im in the vulnerable category
Well done to you for keeping up with it. My granddaughter had to shield for a while, she got her letter in April, bless she's only 4 but has JIA ( Juvenile idiopathic Arthritis), she has Uveitus but is doing so well, the drugs have saved her sight. She's allowed out now though.
awww ive had no choice but to give up the gym. ive not been for ages now & my lungs wont be able to take it anymore so ive asked mum to save herself some money & withdraw my memembership
absolutely- Years ago I used to go every friday evening - Mum used to drop me at the gym at about 6.15pm & before I got out of the car I always said "lets get the weekend under way" & after a weeks hard work -the way I saw it wa the minute I stepped out of the car & walked towards the gym & entered it it was the first few mins & seconds of saturday
I know. It depresses me because theres no history of it in the family .I spoke to the doctor I saw about me smoking now & again during the 90s & 2000s & was this condition something thats been bubbling under the surface for years & now flared up as I got older- & she didnt seem to think so -(Im convinced) so Im still nowhere to knowing where it came from I'll miss my long bike rides. -Its going to have to be starting from going down the road & back until my lungs can take it (taking care of course) then as it gets use to it then as soon as i feel I can go a little further then do so with care & stick at it & so on . If the new stables takes me on when Ive had my riding assessment Im going to make a request that I just go for hacks-
I can imagine it does, it would me. Smoking on and off shouldn't have been a problem. It's strange that you have it and there's nothing in your family.
I hope you can ride the horse with no problem. Electric bikes are good.
Cheers Alicia. You need to have a licence & pass a test to have an electric bike -none of which I have -if this is the case I would not be allowed to have a licence because of my epilepsy& coudnt afford to run one anyway nor can I afford to buy one
Unfortunately -prior to Covid As much as Ive been trying to get work I havent been succesful .Companies arejust too inflexible they advertise admin roles -so I apply for them & whether or not I get an interview all theyre bothered about is company background (as well as admin of course)
One year I resorted to applying for a junior admin (although Im 20 years trained in admin) & got an interview -& I was bitter that they didnt offer it to me because the company I applied to had fellow colleagues around the world & I speak French & their opening gambit in interview was what coud I bring to the table so I mentioned my lingusitic capablities in terms of translation & interpretation & their response was brilliant -we dont have anyone who can speak or write any other language or than english & Id be an asset to the company.
What do I find -the result was Me 0- sucesful candidate 1 When I phoned to request some feedback -they said that they chose someone who had both admin/insurance but NO LINGUSITIC EXPERIENCE!!! So I told them they were missing a trick & if paperwork came in that needed translating from French into English they'd be stimed & could affect heir Clientele or fiancial situation to which they replied that it was their problem-so I hope theyve gone under!!!
I'm so sorry Sara you have Epilepsy as well, I really feel for you.
You're the same as my daughter, she was also trying to get work but getting nowhere, she even applied for an HCA post in the NHS and didn't even get an interview even though she had more than was needed ie. she trained as a nurse a few years ago.
You are well qualified and I would have also been very annoyed.
Well all I can say to that was it was definitely their loss and you weren't supposed to work there and it might have been a horrible place to work. Their loss, not yours for sure.
I remember having an intrview in some other isurance company & they liked my cv & interview so much they took me on immediately at a 2 week trial. I was only there for 2 days -& in those 2 days there language was very unprofessional to say the least -there was a lot of effing & jeffing all day each day I was there. After 2 days -because I wasnt picking things up straight away with very little training they pulled me in -told me it wasnt working & paid me off with my 2 days pay & got rid ofme
When they pulled me in to tell me I gave them a piece of my mind about their behaviour & conduct in a professional environment I put it too them that I was listening to their bad language all 2 days I was with them & quite frankly told them straight out that they were unprofessional -swearing in a professional environment & bringing in kids to the office & letting them run round the office & swearing in front of them & that I'd never worked in an office environment with that sort of a situation & frankly in finishing I told them they were a disgrace & it was a displeasure trying to work for them
That's disgusting but definitely not a place to work for sure, I'd really dislike that.
Well done to you, that took some guts but was definitely the right thing to do. You don't do that in an office environment. E had a woman started in our office and on day one she was swearing in the office, I didn't like her from that day onwards, she's still there but I'm not. Believe it or not she's a childcare lawyerβΉ
certainly did I even contacted the manager after work to make it clear that I meant what I said & made it clear that its a disgrace that a manager allows this type of behaviour
once its july 31st & 1st August - if the weather is decent Im going to try going for a bike ride down the bottom of the road & back this time I dont have to be deceiptful & ive told mum of my plans becaue im doing it officially so to speak
Iβm back on the bike to support my weight loss journey and find for me itβs a great way to exercise. Yesterday My ride was near Lancaster to Glasson Dock today itβs near Lancaster to Arneside which we normally visit in the car wish me luck.
Well done Jeff, it sure is a good way to tackle weight. The North is a great place to live especially where you are. My cousin lives in Gisburn, near Clitheroe.
I hope you've enjoyed your ride and had a good day.
Thanks Alicia just a short one today along the prom the tide was in sI it was great looking at the sea and empty beaches. Quick shop at Aldi and back home for brunch π
