A good cycle ride today

β€’51 Replies

Hi all

I rode into our lovely quiet city centre today, I visit the wholefood shop once a week.

It's been a bit damp and drizzly here today but fortunately most of the drizzle was when I wasn't cycling. I cycled 24.5 miles.

Hope you all have a lovely rest of the day and here's some photos and one of me.

Your welcome Alicia don’t you like it whenever the wind blows on your hair and your face πŸ˜„ I wish I was outside now

in reply to Hb2003

It's great being outside Hiba, it makes you feel so much better. I'm fortunate in that I live right by the coast, the beach is about a 10 minute walk for me. xx πŸ’œπŸ’œ

That is amazing 😍

in reply to Hb2003

I'm very fortunate and have someone for my daily exercise xx

I love the look of that quiet lane Alicia and the hills are just lovely. You look a little windblown but look so happy to be out on your bike whatever the weather.X

in reply to RoadRunner44

I always cycle along that quiet country road Chrys as it's not that often you see cars, particularly at the moment. It was great being out on my bike and not long until the Spring where I'll be out longer and cycle further.

Sounds great πŸ‘ From where I'm sitting it looks like it's a beautiful 80 sunny 🌞 degrees out there and I open the door and it's 20 and β„οΈπŸŒ¨οΈ snow is coming later. As they say in New England USA you have to see the snow to believe they actually got the forecast correct for once.

in reply to Luna_Child

Very deceiving when you look out if the window, you open the door and it's freezing cold.

Stay safe in the snow.

I know. Looks like the perfect picturesque day open the door and whack it's πŸ₯Ά freezing. I have an appointment but I should be home before the snow πŸŒ¨οΈβ„οΈ..it's been a very good winter I really don't mind the cold weather it's the snow I don't like and I don't like driving in it because people who've lived here for their entire lives somehow lose their driving skills in the snow. We are ranked the worse state for driving as it is. They raised the license age a few years back but you know it's the middle age adults mostly. They need stiffer penalties. Have a wonderful day Alicia πŸ˜ŠπŸŽΆβ€οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸŒˆπŸŒΌπŸ€—πŸΏοΈπŸŒ·πŸŒΈβ€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

in reply to Luna_Child

Quite, as soon as you open the door it's a shock. I don't like the snow as it's hard to get around. Sorry your State is the worst one for drivers.

Agree re stiffer penalties.

Hope you're having a good day.🌸🌸🌈🌈πŸ₯°πŸŒΉπŸŒΉπŸŒΉπŸ¦β„πŸ’œπŸ˜Š

Amazing!!

Well done- have a rest and a chill 😊

Thank you. I enjoyed my lunch that's for sure πŸ˜‰

Hiya Jerry

The countryside really is and I feel so much better for it and even better now that I read your post about the nasal spray, you've really brightened my day up so thank you.

It was a little windy out there but not too bad and it was behind me along that road on the way home.

Have a great evening.

I love the wholefood shop, they are so lovely in there and it's where I get my shredded coconut, peanuts (to make peanut butter), raw cacao powder (I use that loads), granulated stevia amongst other nuts and seeds. I love shredded coconut for a good snack esp when they are so soft. Love them nuts and seeds all kind esp chia seeds to throw in my smoothie and oatmeals. Life is always good as we make it to be πŸ€—β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈxxx

in reply to GreatMindfulness

I can't stop picking at it and love it. I use it to make raw fruit bars which are called 'Shanibars', recipe below:

allrecipes.com/recipe/21859...

I've been making these for around 3 years now, far better than any raw fruit bar you buy in a store.

You sound like me with your taste. xxx πŸŒˆπŸ§‘πŸ§‘πŸ§‘πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ€—

in reply to GreatMindfulness

I'm so sorry they were burnt. I've just converted the temperature you set your oven to and that was too high for the brownies, it should be 320f. I cook them on 160c fan oven, so it's quite low. Hope you give them another go xxxπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸŒˆπŸŒˆπŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

Awaiting news of my bike . Haven’t ridden one for 45 years so will start in a car park ! Ordered last August - promised end Jan / Feb then recently an email to say May . Amazingly my husband found similar model due in next month so here’s hoping as can’t walk very far due to pressure on hard pavements so bike may be a lifeline until I get to cause of foot problems. Await appointment for circulation tests around my toes .

in reply to focused1

I really hope you don't have to wait too much longer for your bike, that really does seem quite a long time. Ideal to start out in a quiet car park to get used to it but well done. I hope that your hubby does get his bike next month. I'm sorry you can't walk very far on hard pavements.

I fractured my foot last year in May but hadn't realised even though I was in a fair bit of pain. I soaked my foot in ice cold water every night for about 6 weeks and during that time thought well if I can't power walk then I'll get on my bike, which I did. I rode my bike with no problems whatsoever, even though unbeknown to me my foot was fractured. I started to walk again but my foot was still aching and I couldn't walk far so eventually went to the doctor, then hospital for an x ray and that's when they revealed I'd broken it but it had mended. I'm saying this so that it gives you hope for riding a bike.

Bikes are amazing pieces of exercise equipment.

Very best of luck with riding.

Thanks so much for this as I am really looking forward to getting on a bike again . Luckily I have managed to get fairly swift appointments for my feet but it is a process of elimination to see what's wrong . It may even be my back even though I don't have pain there. We have some decent cycle paths nearby but I am slightly scared of country lanes.

in reply to focused1

You are welcome and I thought it may help as the bike can take a lot of pressure off the rest of the body. I'm so pleased you've been able to get swift appointments for your feet, that's really good. It's strange but sometimes we don't get pain where the actual problem is but they won't know until they've carried out all the tests they need to. I'm glad you have decent cycle paths where you are, unfortunately we only have one and that's really muddy at the moment so I'm not using it. We holiday in Derbyshire every year and I have to say I love their cycle tracks that they have, they are amazing.

Oh how lovely, we stay in Longnor, 6 miles from Buxton. What a beautiful place you live as you have the Tissington Trail, Monsal Trail and many others.

I bet and neither could I with the fantastic trails where you are. I'd actually guessed you lived in Derbyshire when you spoke about the trails as they are excellent.

I live near Stockport but it is 1 long road to Buxton - about 30/40 mins . The new cycle paths nearby are beside the A34 so one goes to Manchester Airport , one around Bramhall , Poynton .

in reply to focused1

Ah right, you're not far though. I love the sound of the paths. Here's to you getting your bike soon.πŸ‘

So love your dedication to keeping fit Alicia and love that you love being out in all weathers! Your face says it all! πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸŒˆ

in reply to Callendersgal

Thank you Sue and I've only got one life and I'm here to make the most of it for sure. Yes since COVID I've been going out more often in inclement weather whereas before I would only ride my bike if the weather was bright. πŸŒˆπŸ™
