I’m worried about the impact of fasting during Ramadan on the body and how difficult it is to generally just fast as an endometriosis. It creates mood swings, headache, no energy and severe fatigue and just don’t feel good. Having to miss it without a valid reason is not right. I don’t feel convinced if it’s a disease to make fasting exempt.

Good morning, I would think that an illness or condition is a valid reason for exemption from the fasting rule. The fact that there was a recent fatwa giving medics / nurses exemption during the covid crisis, especially when caring when using PPE is an indication of the flexibility during Ramadan.
Take care,
Jim
Hi Pinkqueen8,
As a non-Muslim, it would be completely wrong of me to guess about the rules of your faith, but I think from a health perspective it seems wrong if fasting is making you feel even worse than your condition normally does. I know it's a real internal conflict trying to manage your deepest beliefs with the needs of your body, and I wonder if there is anyone from within your faith you could contact to discuss this with more fully? Take care and I hope you can find your answer. 🙏
It is, in fact, a rule, and stated in the Q'ran, that if one is unwell then one can postpone the normalities of Ramadan, and may either, if they are well enough, obey the Ramadan rules at another time (ie. fasting), or if they are not well enough they may make a donation (larger than normal), to charity instead. You should request a private meeting with your Imam to discuss this possibility.
Hi thanks for your responses ... outside of the period time, as I have endometriosis I was worried about the fasting aggravating my endometriosis but alhamdulillah I have I fasted and I am feeling ok. In previous years I have missed the Ramadan due to my endometriosis but I was concerned if I should be missing the fasting for a condition like endo.
