It is almost a month since UK declared Lockdown, I wonder how it has been possible for members to add the qualities of wellbeing and positive thinking to their every day living during Lock Down?

How to add a feeling of wellbeing and positivity during the self isolation and Lock Down constraints?

Hi, Roukaya! I live in the USA and as you know, we have been in Lockdown for around the same amount of time, so I completely understand your concerns. Although it is probably quite a bit easier for me to be in lockdown, than most people, because I was already holding up inside my house, because of depression and anxiety issues that i had been dealing with.....it even gets tough for me, at times, as i miss feeling safe enough to just be able to go inside a store, whenever i want or need to do so. But how I am dealing is i keep myself busy online and around the house, doing things i enjoy and keeping my mind occupied on things. And i really think that is the key to staying positive.....ie keeping your mind occupied on other things. I do a lot of binge watching videos of lots of things that i am interested in. I also research things online....ie products and services that i am interested in and anything else that strikes my fancy. I also am planning various new projects to do around the house. I hope this helps. Stay safe and strong! πΏβ€πΏππΏβ€πΏ
I find that it is almost impossible to stay positive when my immune system is so low due to the Lupron shots. I keep hearing stories on how it is going to be worst this fall.
Morning Roukaya, I've downloaded a couple of meditation and mindfulness apps. I have only started listening to them the past couple of nights but so far I like them. It keeps me positive to know my family are safe and well. Hope keeps you positive. Setting some goals and having a bit of a routine and also maybe trying to add a couple of new things into that while this lockdown is going on, all help to keep a positive attitude. knowing the scientific community our working so hard for a vaccine keeps me positive, knowing all this will come to an end at some point. Seeing people and communities pull together, maybe society is learning valuable lessons from this. There are many things we can think of to keep us positive. ππ
Thank you for reply
I think in my case with the help of Psychotherapist it is learning to have the strength to see beyond self limitations
I think finding a positive mindset to accept life and attempt to build a better life from the limits of Lock Down
Hi Roukaya,
I am sorry to learn of your challenges during the pandemic
This is a short post, but i hope to come back later
In a nutshell I aim to keep full busy schedule despite lockdown.
I write out gratitude list every morning also .
Stay safe & hope your day is good.

You are very blessed to be in the most suitable environment.
But as I was told once we have to deal with the hand that has been dealt to us
In my particular case, I live in a flat and it was the best I could afford
I am learning to try to believe in myself and try not to be overwhelmed by my past.
Hi Roukaya, I'd be fibbing if I said that I don't ever envy those people who have lovely gardens, live in the countryside or have whole houses to themselves. I too have a very small apartment in the middle of a city with little of beauty to look at outside. But I do think that it's a blessing to be able to 'deal with the hand that's dealt', or accept the status quo. Being envious or bitter isn't helpful. It only harms us and not those we envy. As my oft-quoted Karma bear (from a book of the same name) says, 'He is not rich who possesses much, but... he is rich who is content with what he has'. π
Good morning
Thank you for your reply
I hope you are keeping well,
It is interesting to read what you have said.
Our own religion teaches us to accept what we have in fact what we my possess is decreed by the Will of Allah.
The month of Ramadan begins on Friday and I very much miss being away from my Mother and her country
It is important to accept that even though we are in Lock Down valuable lessons are being learnt
I realise that I should not look to the past in regret but try little by little to look ahead
Our religion also makes us pay Zakaat which is two and a half percent of our
Wealth
It is based on the premise that if each household can share the wealth this would seek to eradicate world poverty
In this day and age given the wealth of the Arab rich states no one should ever go hungry
It is a cause which I deeply believe in as there have been times in my childhood that there was a imminent fear of scarcity
I again believe life lessons no matter how harsh contain the seeds by which to regrow and bloom one day in life
I hope you are well
I wish you a peaceful day
Hi Roukaya, As you possibly might already know, I am able to do this, it being an integral part of my meditation practice and I do find it's super effective at keeping your mood on a more even keel. Unfortunately it's not easy to commit to, but if you do, you can get some real results, quite quickly. I hope you are managing to feel positive today. Very best wishes. ππΊπ
Ramadan Mubarak Roukaya βͺοΈ
I think, for me, it has been doing things for others, no matter how small, that gives me a sense of well being.
I live in a small village and many of my immediate neighbours are widows. At Easter I had posted cards through their doors and received a note back from one to say thank you and she was sorry it wasnβt a proper card but her son and brother were doing her shopping and only getting her the basics.
This got me to thinking that several of my neighbours may be in the same boat. So, as I make all my own cards, I made up packs with a selection of cards for different occasions and posted them through their doors.
Iβm now sewing βscrub bagsβ and headbands for the North East Frontline Worker.
It feels so much better that just sitting watching TV and I can still stay in my pjs πππ
Good morning
This is very thoughtful of you
How are you
Are you keeping well
It is Ramadan tomorrow and thank you for wishing me Ramadan Mubarak.
As my Mother lives overseas there are some members of the community that provides her with food parcels as she is shielding.
As for me , I am very much by myself and isolated.
I normally spend Ramadan overseas but unable to do so given the temporary suspension of world wide flights
But in our Religion, Ramadan is a month of sacrifice and spiritual purification and reflection.
You have a very sweet name and I hope you remain safe and well.π
I'm very busy setting up my new home, bedroom furniture to build! I'm disappointed that The freezer I ordered has been cancelled, as they don't know when or if it will be in stock again. Still, it saves me having to stock it!
None of my old furniture would fit, as It's a bungalow, so I'm taking the opportunity to buy new stuff, with with the difference in price between the old and new place.
I am hoping you get on well with your fast.
Cheers, Midori
Good evening
I hope you are well
Thank you for reply
My Mother moved overseas as a result of a very difficult marriage many years ago
I told her to buy new and beautiful furniture within her budget
I think it the right decision to buy new furniture as this is symbolic of a new beginning
I stated fasting today and twenty nine to go
I would have been pleased to celebrate the end of Ramadan with my Mother overseas but Covid 19 has suspended all travel
Our religion teaches us to be patient in adversity and Ramadan is a time to be together with family
It is hard to cope and accept the loneliness at times
I hope the new furniture you buy will make to feel comfortable in your new home
Take Care
