Please stay strong. I also live on my own but try to keep in touch with the world by that wonderful invention, the telephone. And when I talk to my friends, it reminds me that we are all in this together and that actually helps. Sending hugs 🤗

Good morning

I hope you are well

Given the uncertainty we face I am pleased you have reminded me that it is still possible to maintain communication on line and on the telephone

I wish you protection and safety

Thank you Roukaya, and thinking of you too, at what's a difficult time, with your mum so far away. Please try to stay strong and remember that one day this will all pass and life will become more normal again. Try to take just one day at a time and get yourself through it, and don't dwell on how long you may be distanced from her. And please let us to help you, by continuing to post often, then we can support you through your posts. Have a really nice, and safe day. With warmest best wishes.

Dear CallendersgaL

I hope you are keeping well

I realise you were up very early this morning as I get early for morning prayers

I am a Muslim by faith and our religion teaches us to have faith and trust in God

He always knows best

To be patient in adversity and he alone can bring calm and stillness after a storm

It is a beautiful day I will try to go out for a little walk as I live in a flat

I thank you for your kind words and support given

I wish you a peaceful and safe day

in reply to Roukaya

Hello again Roukaya, I hope your strong faith will help you through all of this. It is shaping up to be a very lovely sunny day, here at least, so I'm sure it will lift your spirits to go outside and enjoy a walk. It's not the same as being able to mingle with other people, but I think that nature really restores our sense of balance, and even city streets give opportunities to enjoy wildlife of some kind or another. I too am a flat dweller as you may have noticed if you saw my dawn picture, but I have trees right outside and regular bird visitors to entertain me. Have a happy day and stay safe.

Hi Roukaya ,

It’s a great idea to go for a walk. It helps me when I’m thinking about certain things that I’ve had on my mind.

Like Hidden has said, please keep posting your postings on here and we will help you with any questions and/or concerns you have. I believe that things will be okay soon.😀👍

Keep in touch.😀👍

I’m sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I just got done with lunch today. I’m okay, but been really busy here.

I did some reading and went on the groups.

Is everything okay today?

Thank you for keeping in touch

I hope you are able to protect yourself by self isolation

I must learn to accept and cope with the self isolation

I expect I am always concerned with the welfare of my Mother who lives alone overseas

In these times as a Muslim I learn to have faith and have patience with trials and tribulations

Thanks for listening

It’s great that you care about your mom. I have a Grandmother in another state who is in her 80’s. I don’t know if she is staying home or went to my Aunt’s today ( they usually get together every Sunday). I hope she stayed home.

Do you like music? Listening to music may help. I listen to music during the day.😀👍

I know I need to find other distractions instead of being anxious and fearful

Having fear and anxious feelings is human. I was having fear of the unknown ( sometimes, I still do) because I don’t know when and how long it’ll be before I get to go back to work.

You are kind enough to listen

I am mainly concerned for my elderly Mother as she lives alone in Mauritius

I am her only child

It is only the two of us

This is why I become very anxious when I see the rising scale of the epidemic

How are you coping with the Corona virus pandemic

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to Roukaya

I can only hope when the crisis calms down that you will be able to start again with working

I know what you mean. You’re a good person to care for your mom.😀👍

I spend time with my parents and during the week, I have my Nephew and Niece all day. They have to do school on the internet since all schools have been closed since last week.

I have a few projects I will do in a few minutes. I will be back later today.😀👍

I hope you are ok

I am beginning to be quite scared as UK may be entering into lockdown in order to control the spread of the epidemic

I think my life has always put my parents first and I am quite scared of being on my own due to Lockdown

But last year as I turned fifty I travelled and visited many countries such as France, Mauritius and Turkey

I love visiting and travelling and seeing new countries

I also visited Saudi Arabia on a mini pilgrimage earlier this year

Do you like travelling?

How do you spend your time day to day due to the social isolation

You are very fortunate to have your parents near you

I think during this process I have learnt to appreciate what we have and by Gods grace if we come out this this -we will learn to value what we have

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004 in reply to Roukaya

I take it easy and close my eyes and breathe. I also try to let the stress not get to me. I try to help everyone else.😀👍

Roukaya in reply to Activity2004

It is very good for you not to let stress and anxiety get the better of you

Very important to be able to calm yourself in midst of anxiety

Very kind if you to listen to me and help others

Do you know of any techniques to reduce worry

In my case I do my prayers

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004 in reply to Roukaya

I do a few different things. ZUMBA, reading, talk to friends on here and the phone, take walks around the house, play with my cat, etc..

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to Activity2004

I think as I spend every day by myself I will need to find activities in order to keep my head occupied as we may be going into lock down

This is something I really miss

Are you able to do any classes on line

I am

Thinking of doing the yoga on line

Just to clear the mind

When I see the epidemic of the virus this does get me worried

Take care and thank you for listening

I took a class for Zumba online yesterday afternoon.

How’s your day going today?

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to Activity2004

Good Afternoon

I hope you are well

I would like to explain that U.K. is likely to face lock down so I went and bought a few more food items

The main shopping centre is more or less closing

Very sad

But the essential shops will stay open

So I did some food shopping

I think I just feel sad that I am not with my Mother

But she used to visit me and she would.like visiting the shops

My exams have been postponed but as I failed the exam by a few points I think I should try to study

I am quite isolated from interacting with people and I am pleased you keep in contact

I think it is very good you did the Zumba on line

Zumbra, tai chi and loads of things work well online so you are not doing it alone and doing it properly. It also saves you a bundle of money and time on travelling. And means you can do it when it suits you, not have it dictating to you that it must be 3 pm fridays.

I wish you were right but I predict that it will get worse for the simple reason that a lot of people out there are infected and will affect others and so on. When only 50 have it and infect others less get affected than when 500 have it and pass it on, it grows more and more faster and faster. We decided to self isolate long before it was told to us by the government. We think for ourselves and do not take unnecessary risks. My guy closed down his work/business and gave up his income rather than risk going out meeting people and getting it.Today Ive not seen one person walk past my house. Usually at least 200 would have by now. We believe that if people had self isolated faster and not waited to be told this would have been over quicker.

It depends on the area everyone is living. We’ll have to see what happens next.

wiserlady profile image
wiserlady in reply to Activity2004

Think the point is still the same though, the more people are slack about being safe the more people get it, the more people get it the quicker and more it gets passed onto.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004 in reply to wiserlady

That makes sense. It also depends if certain people go outside.

Good morning

I hope you are well

I wish you a peaceful day and safe

I will try to go out for a little walk and take each day by day

No one likes uncertainty do they as what I did was had a look at what is it about this that upsets me and why and came up with the answer that a lot of what upset me was to do with not knowing and uncertainty.

However I had a think of things I can do something about like how I behave and writing out a list of things to do at home and about any gifts that have come out of this and rediscovering old hobbies and catching up on the cleaning at home like i did yesterday.

Yes there are plenty of things you can't do anything about like how long this will last, whether your workplace will close or not, the school closures and others behaviour but you can take steps to help yourself no matter how small which helps you feel less powerless in the current climate!

Best of luck!

Dear Catgirl 1976

I hope you are well

I hope you have a safe and carefree day

I thank you for reply

I am by my nature an anxious person

Also I am a spiritual person and I will accept life as it is

In my religion we accept the will of God and we pray for the mercy of God

I think I should try to do what I can in these uncertain times

Thank you for your input

Through this site I have learnt of my own mental health shortcomings and how this affects my own perception

I will try to do what I can within the imposed limitations
