Just wee bit of advice, I had a call from my local surgery to say, after recent blood tests (done at home, on request of my haemo) that my folic acid and vitamin level were low and could I come to surgery to have more bloods done but when I said no because isolating (GP actually sent me isolation letter) I was told blood test could be "put on hold" until pandemic is over. I am left now thinking what my GP is playing at, surely I need tests again or I don't, would be very interested if anyone could help get my head around this one!!!!!!!
Love Phyllis xx

Hi Phyllis,
I do understand your worry, and it's true that these further tests do need to be done, but unless you already have a serious underlying condition which will be badly affected by this first set of results, then it isn't a life-threatening thing in the same way that COVID-19 is. If it had been life-threatening, then I think your GP would have made repeat tests available to you straight away.
So in fact your GP believes it's safer for you to wait until the current restrictions on us are over. Tests are repeated for all sorts of reasons. I don't know why yours need to be but if your GP isn't worried about your waiting, then I don't think you need to be either. I hope that helps. Very best wishes and please try not to worry about it too much.
Thanks for your reply, will just have to go with it, I did have blood tests done at home 2 weeks ago for haemo, he organised it all, perhaps haemo more on the ball.
I agree with both responses you've had, if GP feels they need doing now they'll find a way to get them done, also it may be worth finding out from GP or a pharmacist if tablets will help until blood tests are done, good luck x
Hi Phyllis
I agree with both responses. If your GP thought that your urgently needed the blood tests he/she would have said so. They have understood your concerns and are happy to wait.
If you are still worried then contact the surgery to double check for piece of mind.
All blood tests that are classed as routine have been put on hold. With your GP saying that you are able to wait for the blood tests for your problem that you have suggests that they are just under the borderline or Just above the borderline. If they were Dangerously low they would have arranged for you to have a other blood test right away at home. Or your local chemist can do it sometimes if someone is trained in taking blood samples like they can now with flu injections. I know that it is a worrying time that we are experiencing now like other people have said to you in there replies. I endorsed there advice to you. Just follow the NHS and the Government advice on the coronavisus outbreak and hopefully we will get through this deadly disease soon. If you ate still worried ring or go online to NHS111 online services for medical advice. And tell them your problem and they either will direct you to someone who can help you or tell you to follow your Doctor's advice and instructions. If you feel unwell at anytime ring 111 or 999 if it's a real emergency situation. You have no need to get worried about this matter just relax and do something to take your mind off things. Take care of yourself and stay safe always. Peter
Thank you sooooo much for your lovely reply, yes very uncertain and difficult times but hopefully all will be well........eventually. Take care and stay safe 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
