I was diagnosed with CLL in Spring of 2011 and undertook a variation of the FCR chemo treatment on the ARCTIC clinical trial in the Autumn. Several years ago I was advised that I was in full remission and see my consultant every 4-6 months. I have not received a letter or text from the NHS advising me to shield so I registered on the Government website about a week ago as CLL was listed but to date no response.
I am taking the course of acition to self isolate rather than shield unless I am notified otherwise. I look forward to receiving comments.
Hi Steve, welcome to the community! I think the actions you have taken are very wise and I hope you hear from the government website soon. I am no medical expert, so I cannot comment on a correct choice, but self isolation while you are waiting for an answer seems wise. I hope you have some activities to keep yourself busy. Your cat is very beautiful and seems like she or he will be very great company during these times! I also have a cat, a 4 year old tabby, and she is wonderful entertainment and company each day.
This is a great community with some fab people with some great advice, but I'm sure if you post this in the CLL community section you will find your query has been answered by several CLL posters, including myself.
There have been many, many extremely vulnerable and at risk people who have not received NHS letters and have fallen through the gaps in the system. This is a popular topic in the CLL community section. Of course, if there is a reason you prefer not to post there, I fully understand.
If you do go there to post, don't forget to come back here👍
I don't mean to be rude, Steve, but your age would probably be reason enough to self-isolate, let alone the CLL diagnosis, albeit in full remission.
Kind regards and keep safe.
Davy.
Callendersgal/Gerry: Hope I'm not out of order redirecting from the group?🤔
One of my friends has a brown and white tabby called Percy who has a white bib and white socks on her paws and her and our ginger tabby baby are the same age and baby is 16 this weekend and Percy is 16 in June.
I too think that is wise best to be safe than sorry keep safe. I only received my text 2 days ago and a letter on its way, I am vulnerable so went into isolation 4 weeks ago.
