Haircut anyone,or do i mean groom & fumigate

Never before in the realms of human conflict has my dogs had fleas, until now.they are/were rampant, and i am convinced they caught them at a new groomer i went to,and i am convinced they also dropped my dog Eddie as the same night i rushed him to the vets in terrible distress,i digress ,for this week my furry friends went in for their boosters and discovered all were covered in fleas, and my embarrassment was tantamount to murder.

I have now fumigated the house and i have spent a small fortune on a variety of sprays, foggers, ointments,in fact i have sprayed myself too as i was itching like crazy, the downside of spraying oneself is you do end up with a most terrible bark.

I bought Wahl clippers several years ago and never used them as i did'nt feel confident enough, however, yesterday i girded my loins and gave it a go,and although far from perfect they are looking ok ish,and my goodness did i get rid of the invasive blighters big time. I am now awaiting a shipment of herbal combatant which you spray on the pets, and it does have excellent reviews.

What the Dickens,it never rains but it pours...but never mind,i still have cake.

Hi secret22,

The scourge of pet ownership. I had this happen to me a couple of times in the tropics where fleas are a nuisance year round with the constant temperature and wonderful hang-outs for them in the cane fields, so it's easy to jump on any passing dog or cat. It's such an embarrassment to have an infestation and yet it can happen to anyone (and frequently does).

It sounds as if your Rambo-esque attack on them has restored law and order, but it really is amazing the lengths you need to go to, to repel the little blighters.

Well done on mastering the clippers, and now the pets are looking dapper, you might consider getting really daring and having a go at your own! 🤣

Good luck with the new flea treatment when it arrives. It'd be good to get a report from you later on, on how successful it's been.

The weekend's here, so I hope you have an ample supply of cake handy. Enjoy! 😊👍

I'm sorry to hear about this, fleas are awful and to get them from the groomers, you won't be back there again for sure.

You've certainly be thorough in getting rid of them, well done. I do thank heavens I have hard floors as fortunately my cat never gets them, our other cat used to and we had carpets then.

Love the 'I still have cake', there's always time for cake isn't there. 😉😉

It really is but you really shouldn't have been in that situation. Shame you can't prove it was the groomers, you won't go back though.

Hoping it's all sorted soon and you've decluttered.

About three years ago my dog had fleas.

Never in a lifetime of dogs had this before.

I had to throw out clothes and our settee, also Christmas gifts. We started using the bombs and powder you can buy plus constant cleaning.

It was exhausting and in the end we got the proffesionals in and like magic they were gone.

I use dog flea treatment now and have learnt my lesson 😁

Secrets please consider getting the pros in.

Oh no! This randomly happened to us a few years ago we had “visitors” as I call them. We had two cats and it had never been a problem then one year it was horrendous! We sprayed around every room in the whole house and they never came back luckily 🤞

And me too....i have sprayed every room and let off foggers to kill the blighters, and i am even spraying myself as i have a permanent itch. Its awful.

Please treat their bedding regularly as the little blighters breed in bedding. Have you recently turned on your heating? That is another thing which will exaggerate the breeding cycle. You will need to do it regularly.

If you take them walkies in the country, they well may have picked them up from a hedgehog or other animal. If your pets were really hopping, then it has been established for awhile.

Been a dog owner for years, seen the little blighters many times.

Of course i treat their bedding ,in fact i've treated everything, and fingers crossed, its all working, not completely sorted but certainly much improved.

i dont actually take them out walking as we do have an extensive garden, and yes, they could have picked something up there.

In 30 years of having dogs this is the first time ever any have had fleas.
