Keeping busy.

Hello my fellow friends in adversity, the thought of 3 months self isolation seems a bit daunting but my Wife and I are in our second week. How to keep busy and occupied?

Well I had long promised myself to repaint our Hallway, stairway and landings after many years of our 5 grandchildren giving the surfaces more than fair wear and tear! So I have begun and the first thing was to agree the colour scheme with the Minister of the interior; I must have caught her off guard as she agreed without too much prevarication! Getting the paint proved easier than I thought as we could order it on line from a well known store chain and it was delivered in rapid time. I think climbing ladders counts as useful exercise too for a 75 year old! Mind you having a dodgy set of lungs means I get plenty of breaks so am catching up on my reading too which is great.

This was all well and good when the weather was none too kind outside but just to make life awkward the Sun has decided to beam on us; I was not expecting that! So now the lawnmower beckons too. I think I will do the front to start just so people know we are alive and well. Our village and rural community are great and one young lady has kindly offered to do our shopping for us and deliver to the door, normally we would have her in for a nice cup of coffee but now that is a no, no.

Our daughters live far away so we are keeping in contact by telephone but if any of you out there know how to put Whats App on my Samsung phone I would appreciate help as it tells me Screen overlay detected. It says to turn off the screen overlay from Settings >Apps but when I go to settings I can't find Apps! We could then see our grandchildren and enjoy their company on screen, this is our only frustration in all this. Can anyone help please?

Do take care all, now time for some more painting.

Hello, I have a samsung phone with WhatsApp installed. I opened settings and apps is the seventh on the list. I don't know whether this will be much help but I hope it might. Take care Pete.

I've got WhatsApp on my Samsung Galaxy thanks to my granddaughter. I've looked in settings and it's 8th on the list. There are several videos on YouTube that might help.

Ah good old You Tube, I am sure that will help as there seems to be a discrepancy on exactly where on the Setting list it is. Just good to know others have trod this path too. Wishing you well.

Thanks, but as I said all credit must go to my granddaughter, who is currently at university not preparing for her end of term exams as she should be. It's been very difficult for students having this happen after they've had several months of lecturers' strikes to cope with.

Oh Bless her, it is so frustrating to be in this state of limbo with the degree work. One of my Grandsons is in his last year at Junior school and is worrying how it will affect his grades and one Granddaughter coming up for A levels although I am pretty sure in her case her mocks and term work will stand her in good stead as like most girls she really applies herself. I feel for the youngsters as they have never been through any kind of crisis on this scale. Hoping she gets a positive result at the end of this at Uni.

Cheers.
