Pumpkin Soup

Today, the third of November, I went into, my local, Morrisons to do my shopping. Outside the store was a very large, I suppose you would call 'Pallet wrapper', full of Pumpkins. Some of these Pumpkins, were admittedly, starting to 'go over' however a, good number, were still quite good. The Pumpkins were originally three pounds....these were reduced to.....wait for it.....TEN pence each-Pumpkin Soup it is! I have never actually made PUMPKIN soup before, tomato, leek and potato, leek and watercress, just watercress, chicken and vegetable.....I could go on- ALL yes. I have bought Ginger, to go with it. I'll let you all know.

A tad, off subject, but...if you cut Pumpkins Squashes, or even Peppers into strips then place them SKIN SIDE DOWN, onto a lightly greased backing tray- medium hot oven (about 150, gas mark 3)-for about twenty minutes....you are if for a treat. If you add, a selection, of root vegetables too, Wow. The Skins, very gently, 'Caramelise' some how and are delicious, DO give this a Go. (you may, very well, find that the Root Veg. takes a bit longer, maybe start those half an hour earlier)

Anyway DO give this a go, you won't be diss-appointed.

Warmest 'Soupy' wishes

An Update, I have made the Pumpkin Soup. I added Fresh Ginger, so it has rather a 'Kick' to it. I also added some Golden Syrup, for sweetness, and a 'fair amount' of a Good Marmalade. I actually roasted the pumpkin first..... I Discarded, a generous amount, near the 'Discoloured' section, filled my large baking tray AND my Pyrex one and had used.....LESS than Half my Pumpkin! I have just given, a small jug full, to one of my neighbours, warning him of the 'Heat'- not that he will mind, I know.

I also made Parkin, last week, apparently it should be Rested that long. Not bad, maybe a bit Dry- I don't know if That's My doing of, if it, is supposed to be like that. Flavour wise- quite good, very heavy, fairly Gingery and Kind Of 'Pudding-y'- rather like a Dry Flapjack. Not unpleasant, but probably NOT something I would make again....At least not using that recipe anyway. A good 'Experiment' though and I AM, very glad, that I tried it. Please don't let me Put YOU Off, trying this, you may Very Well like it.

All I've got to do now is Work out, what to DO, with Seemingly 2,000,000,000,000,000,000 TONS of Pumpkin!! Especially as I have, all manner, of appointments coming up this week....of all the weeks...…..

Kindest Pumpkin-y Wishes

Dear Sam,

I'm glad, that you like, my sense of humour. I have 'posted' a couple, of Christmas Jokes, recently. There are also so Poems, of mine, 'around' too. To be honest and, I know that this isn't 'Like' me, I'm not feeling that well, right now. I'm quite tired, We- myself and my Mother- were up, with some friends, the weekend. The lady had a Major Stroke, about fifteen years ago now, and, although there ARE 'Carers' it was still Wearing. I honestly, don't know, how her Husband 'Copes'. However it WAS good, to see them.

On Top of, all of this, my Tummy is 'Playing Up/ On The Blink' again. Just the Usual Wind/ Gas, Cramping, Constipation (Especially Yesterday!) and general Rumbling/ Groaning. It is BOUND, to 'Settle Down', before Next Week- I'm seeing my Consultant! (There is NEVER a F..king 'Bubble', when he listens).

Still I mustn't 'Grumble'- though it DOES ''sound'' like I am, doesn't it? ME...Complain....NEVER!!! By The Way....How do you keep, an idiot, in suspense? I'll tell you next time...….Sorry I just HAD to! 'They' say that the Fist Sign, of Madness, is hairs, on the Palm, of your hand. Apparently The Second Sign, is Looking, for them!

I hope, that I have, made you smile Sam as I said I'm, not really, feeling That Great, at the moment.

If I don't 'Talk', before Christmas, have a Lovely time. Please give, my Love, to your Family, and Friends. Too Early for Happ….yes it is!

Hey, sounds like you had a tough weekend. Hope your consultant visit goes well. Last time I went I was seen by somebody very skilful who actually heard me and addressed my concerns... Not medically but human-ly... it was quite a novel transformative experience.

My stuff is neurological in symptoms and I've had a real good run of energy this last 2 weeks, I've been able to get through a backlog of stuff that's been sitting since probably spring. Including getting a mobility scooter and an automatic car (left leg a bit bu****ed now). So I'm on a mission to find good places to go and get a cold nose! Preferably where the parking is free!! Mean? Me?

Anyways, you take care.

Onward and onward and all that!!
