over this last week i have notised quite a large lump at the top of my chest ! is this all to do with PMR , i have the large hump at the base of my neck along with all the other pains, im on 20mg steroids and have been for a couple of months now , so does anyone know why this lump has come from it carnt be put down to the steroids can it ?

The lump you mention that is on your chest. If it is sitting on the bone (do not know the name in English) between the collarbones maybe a couple of centimeters below. Then I can tell you that I have got the same. It has been there for years. A GP drew my attention to this a couple of years ago and told me that I could have a "sample taken to see if it was OK" he thought it was just fat that has organized itself into a lump. I have not had anything done about it yet.
I can tell you as well that my husband had a lump on his neck behind and down from his right ear. It grew bigger and bigger until he vent to the doctor who took a sample first. It was just fat that had organized this lump which was then cut away, and has not appered again. Apparently this is not unusual when you get older.
But one should have a sample taken to find out which kind of a lump it is.

I have never heard of lumps being associated with PMR.
Any odd lump needs to be checked right away by your GP just to make sure things are OK. It is best never to delay this or ignore a lump of any kind. Chances are it won't be anything to worry about but if it is something serious, delaying having it checked could have serious costs to your health.
Only a medical person can look at it and decide whether it needs to be checked out further -- but can say I have never seen anyone mention lumps anywhere in relation to these conditions, in all the time I have been reading information and joining discussions

Yes Steph, lumps are not associated with pmr, except for the unfortunately-named "buffalo hump" at the top of the spine that is an accumulation due to long term steroid use and that can be reduced or eliminated after stopping the steroids.
