Soft lump on arm

So I’m just 2 months on 15 mg prednisone for PMR and recently discovered a squishy lump on my upper arm. I’ve read about the lump that can happen on our backs near our necks from prednisone but does it cause lumps in other areas?

I have several of them. I was told they were lipomas. Does it hurt? If not you can leave it, if it does hurt you can have it removed, but of course you will have a scar. You may want to have it removed for cosmetic reasons. Apparently they tend to come along in middle age. I was wondering if they were being caused by pred. Although I had one before PMR.

I was thinking lipoma too. Never had one before and it doesn’t hurt just hangs down when I raise my arm so not the most attractive thing 🥴

I must admit my right arm is starting to look a bit corrugated with them!

Wonder if they’re connected to PMR or prednisone? Poor circulation from PMR?

I do seem to have a lot more of them since PMR. On the other hand I am the right age to get them.

I guess I am too!☹️

Hi, I have several on my arms and hamstrings... And on lower legs. I was told lipoma (luh-poma). Sometimes they are more prominent. Some are pea size, others quite a few cm's. The dr had a feel of them and said lipoma-benign tumours. None are painful, but some on the ligaments behind my knees seem to stiffen sometimes.

Thanks for responding Scoopitup that’s what I was thinking.

It did settle my mind once Dr had seen them so don't sit worrying.

No-one knows what causes lipomas when they aren't due to a genetic condition

They need to be looked at to be sure they are benign but aren't usually removed unless there is a good reason.

Yes had one on my back ( still there!) before PMR. Doctor said best to leave it alone unless it causes me any problems which it hasn’t. Had it now I suppose about 7 years.
