I have been on pred for 2 yrs this month . Started at 15mg now down to 2.75mg.
MY HbA1C is 39 , , once the steroids stop completely will it lessen ?? I know it’s classed as a “ normal” level below 41mmols but should I try to lower it by diet ??
I follow a low carb diet and am a normal weight for my height .
You opinion would be much appreciated

It is presumably in the "good" range because you already eat a low carb diet. It is impossible to say what will happen if you stop that low carb diet when you get to lower pred doses - SnazzyD says she has had to continue with a lower carb intake even after stopping pred to avoid weight gain.
Good to see your efforts are being rewarded. I soon found after stopping Pred how much carb I could eat before putting on weight and it wasn’t much compared with the normal diet I had before the Pred started. I’ve had one HbA1c done since in 4 years and it was normal. 39 is ok so you’re doing alright.
I wouldn't think that level of pred is having much if any effect on blood glucose so unlikely to go lower as you taper. (I'm just experimenting with a Freestyle libre at 10mg levels at which it definitely does, and it is related to timing of taking pred - will post about.)
Anyway, trying to lower it further by healthy and yummy additions to diet like nuts, seeds, veggies, fermented is always a good idea and has many wider health benefits, but I always think we need to leave room for treats!
