I’ve just been diagnosed with a UTI. I am currently at 3.75 mg of prednisone after reducing from 4 in the last week. I also just had a blood test and noticed that my C reactive protein count was at 11… slightly above normal values. Not sure if it is a reaction to the infection or that my inflammation is increasing. Would it be advisable to increase prednisone for a few days while taking antibiotics or just continue on? Appreciate any advice.
Thanks!

Your CRP may be affected by the infection as you say … so personally I wouldn’t increase Prep.. others may disagree. Let the ABX do their work, and maybe seek medical advice after weekend.
it's safe to take most antibiotics with steroids—and the combination may even help you recover from infection faster. I’ve been on prednisone since 2017 and have increased when I needed to and reduce when I can. I have my doctor to give me 1mg tabs so I can regulate it. Currently at 2mg but hope to reduce back to 1 mg. Hope this helps! Get better soon!!
hi. I had several UTIs while on Pred and Actemra together. Did not change my dosage of Prednisone. Hope you can continue to wean down . Prednisone was life saving for me but I am a reactor and had a lot of side effects.
