WHAT is a lot? The dose or the amount you are being told to drop at one time?

Go about it SLOWLY. Drop for one day and go back to the old dose the next few days, then try the new dose again. You will find more detailed instructions under Tapering in the FAQs with a coule of different options. That way you challenge your body with the new dose just one day at a time and your body gets used to it in a more gentle manner, I found it was happy again after 3 or 4 encounters. And if it is too uncomfortable even like that - how much are you dropping at a time? Can you make it smaller?

In one of previous posts -re reducing from 45mg to 30mg -this was my reply

At higher doses for GCA, Pred can be reduce in bigger steps - but 45mg to 30mg is too much... 33% definitely not good.

I'd go up to 40mg for a few days, then down to 35mg... and stay there for a 3-4 weeks and then only 5mg a time, until you reach 25mg, then by 2.5mg..

What are you on now?

If the “time to call” is difficult does your surgery have eConsult?
