This is not something I normally suffer with so wondering if adrenals waking up might cause this?
If not then the pate I had on Friday night was the culprit.

hi Golf, difficult to know as you don’t say much in your bio so I don’t know what dose of pred you are on
I am down to 6.0mg and plan to stay there for the next 5 weeks whilst on holiday
Adrenals could be struggling and you are sensible to stay at 6 for your holiday.
Enjoy Australia, we went to Sydney in October and really love it there.
Thank you, my son lives in Sydney, we stay with him and hope to see some big bash cricket
Yes our daughter lives in Sydney. She went over with a job for 2 years and that was 6 years ago. She has bought an apartment now and has residency and is applying for a passport now. We miss her but it is a lovely place to visit. Hope it isn’t too hot for you! It will be a lot warmer than here
I try to get out there every January, sometimes it is very hot mixed with a bit of rain, never quite sure what it will be these days, but definitely warmer than UK.
When I first went out 10 years ago it was all sun and not a drop of rain !!! As my son and his wife are both working, often from home, my wife and I go out to the Northern Beaches which are only 20 minutes away, as often as we can. It will be interesting to see how far I can walk this year without getting totally out of breath🤞I dont really want to sit in the beach bar all day😉
Hello, D&v is the worst!
Firstly, if your adrenals are waking up, you feel nothing, no symptoms, just that you get on with life without a second thought. It’s when they are not working that you feel rough.
It could be poor adrenal function but there is a lot of Norovirus in the uk at the moment so you may have that. Difficult to tell which so you need a bit of detective work. Firstly, how were before this started? If you were relatively ok and didn’t do anything unusual that might have made you need extra cortisol, it is more likely a bug. If you have muscle aches and a bit of a fever, that points to a virus, even Covid.
Are you able to keep your Pred down for more than a couple of hours? If you can’t get that in, you might have issues with adrenal function if they can’t make up the shortfall.
How are you feeling now?
If in doubt call your GP or 111 for advice.
No problem keeping medication down, sickness only occured throughout Friday night Saturday morning, it was quite violent with some heavy "reaching" that has left me with a sore stomach. I had Covid at the beggining of October, I do not have a temperature or fever, so guess it must be either food poisening or some other bug.
I think that if you feel you are on the mend, albeit a bit battered it’s probably a self limiting bug.
The Covid variant JN.1 is causing digestive symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.
Golf-1, I had a very similar reaction after eating a supermarket barbecued chook. Wasn’t sure whether it was the cause until it happened a second time - will never eat one again. Hopefully yours was the pate and is all behind you now.
The weather here is a a bit hit and miss at the moment, lots of thunderstorms and lightening displays but certainly not cold. Enjoy your holiday and family.
It sounds more like Norovirus, which currently is rife in UK at the moment or the pâté!
I hope you start to feel a lot better soon as it can be proper horrid!
Could be a bit of both - but whatever, hope it soon improves...
hope you’re soon improved, Golf-1.
This post caught my eye as I’ve been having similar problems the last couple of days. But I’m really blaming the frozen turkey we’ve been eating. Time will tell✌️.
I’m currently tapering down from 3.5 mg of Pred to 3mg, but I’m taking it very slowly in between each taper.
Btw: how have you found the flight prices to Oz this year? Much difference? We’re keeping an eye out as we’re going to Melbourne in December. Our daughter & son-in-law went out there (Sydney at first) for a 9-month secondment. 14 years later they’re well settled in Melbourne with their 2 children.
Have a great trip!✈️
I am inclined to think it was the Pate, still a little delicate but hopefully holliday with family will sort that out.
I did not actually check, but my wife says flights costing about 40% more than when we last went to Australia 12 months ago !!! nothing gets cheaper these days.
