Advise please on prolapse operation

Hi, not been on site for a while but read posts everyday. I have successfully reduced my pred to 4mg from 15mg starting in 2017. Had a few flares due mainly to the death of my mother and various other stressful situations. I am also still working part time.I have a prolapse operation on Thur 29th Feb, my question is do l increase my pred before the operation? I did ask at my pre op assessment and the consultant. Nurse said just take as usual at 6 when l can have a glass of water. Consultant at first said they would give at hospital then said take normal in morning and then hospital can decide if they need to give me more. I normally take my pred about 7.30 with my breakfast of yogurt and cereal. I am a little confused as what to do.

Sorry to hear about your mother.

Take your morning dose as usual and make sure you speak to the ANAESTHETIST because THEY are in charge of all that sort of thing and it is their job to deliver you to your bed post-op in good condition. The usual protocol is to provide corticosteroid cover via the drip during the surgery. And the anaesthetist watches all that like a hawk or they would get into trouble.

All the best for Thursday!

I have recently had this operation & took prednisolone very early in the morning (7.5mg). Hope all goes well for you. My only advice would be to make sure you get plenty of rest.

Sorry to hear about your mum take care.

When I had my op for a hernia ,the Anaesthetist came to see me before I was ten down,I had a epidural.

All way through the operation he was full on added more corticosteroid when I needed and I could not have been in better hands.

When I was taken to the recovery room he came and told me to double my dose of pred for two days and answered any questions I asked him.

Good luck for a speedy recovery 🌼
