Sorry if this has been asked before but do Sick Day Rules have to be observed for a cataract removal? I am booked in for one on 15/8/23 and currently take 10mg

It’s not usually necessary, many have had cataract replacements without raising their Pred… mine was done at 9mg - no problems…

Not really - one criterion for SDRs is being confined to bed and that is unlikely with a cataract op, You are also not ill or having a major invasive procedure.
I didn’t for my last cataract op., or in fact for my first, which had complications and I had to have a longer op to rectify the complications. I did raise
it a touch for the rectifying op as I was extremely stressed by it. I didn’t really need to as things went very smoothly and the new lens was fitted with no problem.
I hope yours goes well, I think I was one of 2% who have complications but it was sorted about a week later
Many thanks for your replies. I was hoping not to have to increase and that has put mind at rest. I’m looking to reduce to 9 but will wait until a week after the procedure.
