I had cataract surgery January, last week I had a black floater in my left eye which seemed to fade away after two days , yesterday I had several black floaters in my right eye and they appear to have gone! Can anyone give advice?

Thanks

I hope it helps.

I would look up the local MECS optician and call them to ask for advice:

They may be able to tell you the best action over the phone or give you an early appointment to have a look.

I am in the same situation. After cataract surgery, my right eye is filled with annoying floaters. I often mistake them for insects or other things. The eye surgeon did not think anything was out of order but now I am stuck with this for life 🙄If you find a remedy I would be forever grateful.

The left eye btw only has one floater which does not bother me ar all as it is high in the eye whereas the ones in the right eye are central.

Thanks for your post as I didn't know ofvanyone else that has this annoying outcome.

I had many floaters in my right eye last fall and a few still remain. They gradually disappear. Or I assume so as I had floaters years ago which did.

I have had transparent floaters before I had cataract op however the black floater in my left eye disappeared fairly quickly, over the last couple of days I had black floaters in my right eye which are also starting to disappear so it’s becoming less of a worry.

I should note that for my last recent experience in one eye where there were many more than usual, my eye dr recommended an ultrasound of my carotid artery which showed complete blockage. I must add that I had recently been diagnosed with PAD, ultrasounds showing blockages of my legs.

Yikes. I have so many more than usual. I hate them. I keep thinking bugs are swooping in on me! Glad I see my eye doctor at the end of the month.

I too had first cataract done in April and have variable floaters. Getting better, but very irritating.I'm due to have the second eye done next month (pretty quick!) and am hoping for the best.

As cataracts are another wonderful side effect of Pred, I assume there are quite a few of us in the PMR club with this problem??

I had my cataracts (both sides) done more than a year ago and the floaters were a major annoyance early on but have now become less so. There is a surgery available to get rid of them but it is a frightening prospect in that it involves replacing the fluid inside the eyeball.
