I’ll be 71 in May so think I’ve done extremely well to avoid having to go onto BP medication until now!
I’ve been prescribed Indapamide & been told to have bloods redone in 2 weeks time to make sure it hasn’t affected my kidneys. ✌️It doesn’t as my kidney function is currently fine.
My cholesterol had increased to 6, but that blood test was done about 4 days after Christmas. Silly me should have rescheduled that!! However, no statins as yet, the GP will retest me in 3 months.
Hey ho….

I joined the BP meds club while nursing my hubby. I had hoped that it was a short term stress related issue but apparently not. Just been prescribed a second medication. GP being cautious as I may need surgery on my spine and he explained that my BP needs to be a bit lower. So I agreed to give it three weeks then have a blood test to check kidney function and a review with the GP. I was hoping the one drug would do but it hasn't seem to have made a difference so now I have two. A Calcium Channel blocker and now an ACE inhibitor. Good job I am 61 and now get free NHS prescriptions!
I should have been started on an ACE inhibitor but it causes an allergic reaction - did I itch!!! The second line was two drug, losartan and bisoprolol, both low doses which apparently reduces adverse effects. At some much later point the losartan was stopped - now just on a bit more bisoprolol. Things can vary over time. But my BP drugs are no problem at all.
So far so good, not noticed any side effects from the drugs. My blood pressure has been at the high side of normal all of my life. It never varied much either. It started to go really high back in July when my hubby was really ill. I put it down to stress. Unfortunately it is still high but not as bad as it was in the summer. I am now thinking it's stress from still sorting stuff coupled with increased pain and putting on weight as I've not been watching my diet. Who knows but it is what it is! x
