Rebound headaches?

I wrote over the weekend about the constant dull headaches I’ve been getting for 2 weeks. Tylenol worked for only a couple of hours and it would come right back. I had blood work done yesterday and everything was normal. Doctor thinks I might be having rebound headaches from the Tylenol I’ve been taking every day. I have no other symptoms of GCA and feel pretty good. I actually didn’t wake up with a headache today. I stopped taking Tylenol 2 days ago. Whether he’s right or not I have no idea. I am trying now to only take medication that is absolutely necessary for my life. This is terrible but I can’t seem to take anything for my chronic arthritis pain and slipped vertebrae pain. Can’t take NSAIDs because of heart issues, now I’ve stopped Tylenol, Gabapentin made me sleep all the time. I am now really trying to eat an anti inflammatory diet and exercise every day. I really don’t want to complain. Compared to many on here I’ve been leading a pretty active life since I’ve been on Actemra. I recently took a trip to Italy to see my son who is in our US military. My lower back pain kept me from seeing more of that fantastic country but I managed as best as I could and for that I am grateful.

Once again thank you for all your advice. No one in my life really understands what we all go through

Where were you? Where is he based?

I think your doctor is being a bit unhelpful over pain relief - there are other ways of improving low back pain and frankly, Tylenol does nothing for mine!!! Is there any access to a pain clinic/specialist for you?

I agree with you. He is in Pittsburgh PA. I do have a pain specialist. I had a lumbar epidural injection 5 months ago. It definitely helped but I believe it’s wearing off. I’m able to get another one. The pain specialist said I can get them every 3 months. I’ve been trying to hold off because I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to get too many. I have no reason to feel that way. I just do. She also suggested Celebrex but because of heart issues I’m afraid of that too. My cardiologist said I could take an NSAID every once in a while but I need something every day

I'm on a daily NSAID - not available in the US or UK but the doctor here is happy enough about it.

I misunderstood your first question. Duh!

I went to Rome, Florence, Sorrento, all along the Amalfi Coast. He’s based in Naples. I was there for 2 weeks and loved it. I would love to go back. I still want to see Venice. I’d also love to go to Sicily. What a great country to visit.

Anyway, when I see my cardiologist soon I’m going to have to discuss something I an take for pain

Venice is nice but Florence is better!

Venice is definitely not PMR friendly! Far too many tourists in either ... Mind you - too many blooming tourists here last week.

Now, you must have been a tourist at some point in your life, PMRpro!😎

And now I know how irritating we were to the locals! This region goes to a great deal of effort to provide an amazing public transport system and what happens? They all arrive in their cars and use them all week! And food shopping in tourist season is hopeless - apparently they can't buy pasta and tomato products in Germany! I prefer not to emerge from the house on Saturdays ...

I do sympathise but, on the other hand, you do live in a beautiful place, so hopefully that makes up for those annoying tourists!

Just about ;) However - you want to have a look at the queues along the mountain paths at peak tourist time in summer. They sometimes look like the queues to see the Queen lying in state!!! And Italians are so NOISY. No chance of getting away from it all up there ...

my daughter and her family went last summer and so I sympathize with you. She said it was wall to wall people everywhere. It wasn’t that bad for me. Places were crowded but not unbearably. Even though I’ve never been there before my ancestry is 100% Italian and I loved everything about it

They are trying to improve it by restricting private transport. I utterly detest Italy in the first 3 weeks of August when all of Italy and half of Europe comes here and pre-covid we headed for the UK for family visits with very carefully planned days/dates for moving from one family member to the next since they all live in tourist destinations! Christmas/New Year is equally unpleasant.
