After some research I have decided to add a magnesium supplement, to hopefully help with the muscle weakness in my legs. I’ve now got the supplement, but am not certain whether I need to take my dose at a particular time of day for best effect, or not take it with any of my other drugs. The others I take are a PPI (which is by itself first thing), pred and bisoprolol after breakfast, calcium/vitD after morning coffee, and a second dose after my evening meal, along with my statin. I also take a dose of Gaviscon jut before bedtime. I’ve a feeling that somewhere amongst all the research I did on magnesium I read that it shouldn’t be taken at the same time as one of my other drugs, but I just can’t remember the details! Can anyone help me out, please?

Taking a magnesium supplement - any dependencies with other drugs?
Some forms of magnesium are used as a laxative. You might want to experiment carefully if you have any digestive issues
As Seacat says - watch out for GI effects, don't take too much to start with until you see how you react. That varies with different preparations, some are worse than others.
I believe the ratio of calcium to magnesium is important - I think HeronNS knows about that and often says to take calcium and magnesium at different times unless they are in a combined supplement.
I was taking the wrong kind, and wrong dose of magnesium and it caused unpleasant GI issues (cramps, diarrhea). Once I eliminated it, and replaced it with a smaller dose and different varietal, no problems. Of note, my calcium and magnesium are together in one tablet, and I take 2 tabs daily, both at the same time, after supper. I’ve also heard that taking it at bedtime may help with sleep.
How much calcium is in it? You can only absorb about 500mg at a time so if each tablet has that much - you are wasting half of it.
I do exactly the same as you with all medicines, regarding the magnesium recommended to me by doctor to take at bedtime ,have found no problem .
